Cyclones clinch Midlands title!
I thought this deserved its own thread.
ISU has a 149.5 to 103 lead over the 2nd place Hawkeyes and cannot be caught. Fanthorpe, both Paulsons, and Backes will all wrestle in the finals beginning at 7:30.
Fanthrorpe is an unseeded freshman and the only unseeded wrestler to make the finals.
Travis Paulson will get another shot at Iowa's Perry and Trent pinned his way into the finals.
Fifth seeded Backes also got a fall pinning the top seed to get to the finals. “I got his ankle and then used my upper body to set it up,” Backes said. “When you wrestle against Cael in the wrestling room you start to develop his mentality. Why go upper body with a guy whose strength is there? Go for a weak spot. Once someone has your ankle it is pretty hard to recover.” -
Re: Cyclones clinch Midlands title!
Congrats to the Clones. That's at least a small bit of revenge from the Iowa match.

Re: Cyclones clinch Midlands title!
Congratulations to the whole team for making this possible. This seems like we are returning to the glory days of the 60s. It feels real good.

Re: Cyclones clinch Midlands title!
I love the way things are going with a lot of ISU sports, wrestling, woman's basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics.

Re: Cyclones clinch Midlands title!
Congratulations on the big win, Grapplers. Thank You Cael Sanderson, and your wrestlers for bringing another Midlands Title back to Ames.

Re: Cyclones clinch Midlands title!
Wow, go Clones! It's not often somebody can position themselves with a lead so solid that even losing every single match from then on could not make them fall. Impressive work, guys.
When was the last time we had a Midlands title?

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Incidentally, what is the command for turning a hyperlink into text? Apparently not all HTML commands work here... What's the forum tag?

I think that you can do the first (disable a URL) by using the little chain link w/a red "X" over it in the "advanced options" menu (underneath the paperclip icon) - says "remove link" if you hover. For the second (adding a link), you just highlight the text you want to make a link and click the icon just to the left of the "remove link" one - looks like a globe w/a chain in front of it. Says "insert link" if you hover.
I hope that helps!

Congrats to Travis Paulson on getting the best of Perry for the championship!

Re: Cyclones clinch Midlands title!
As a result of winning Midlands and thrashing Iowa in the team scores, we switched spots with Iowa in the rankings, going from #5 to #4. Mizzou (currently #1) and Minnesota also traded spots. Okay State is still #3. OU is #7, and NU is #20. At 165, Travis Paulson and Mark Perry traded spots, too- Paulson is 2, Perry is 3.
Go grapplers!
