Re: Missouri
Also of interest for this game, Missouri's best player Stefhon Hannah, was Mike Taylors Juco backcourt running mate. So far Hannah looks better than Mike which was also the case at their JC. It will be interesting to watch these two old friends match up. Hopefully Mike will elevate his game to send Stefhon a message. http://www.chipola.edu/extrac/athl/b...rds_awards.htm -
Missouri press could cause problems

Based on how the Drake game went, and on how poorly we seem to handle the press, plus the fact that the game is at Missouri, I don't expect a W unless the coaching staff and players figure out a solution to the press woes.

Re: Missouri
I think we recruited Stephon Hannah and Taylor after McD took over. I wish we would have ended up with Hannah rather than MacIntosh.

Re: Missouri
Mike Anderson seems to be a much better coach than Quinn was - at least the local media here in KC seems to think so. He had success at UAB making the tournament a few times. Being a product of former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson, the tigers now employ a variant of the "40 minutes of hell" style that won Arkansas a national title in the early 90's. It's very up-tempo and relies on turnovers.
I don't recall any players leaving after Quinn was fired, so they probably have a bit more depth than us right now. Local KC media is kind of taking a wait and see apporach. Also, that win they got at home against Arkansas may not be such a good barometer of success - Anderson has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to Arkansas for the way they handled the Richardson dissmissal. Some could accuse Anderson of running up the score.
I think if we can slow the game down and limit the mistakes I like our chances. And if we chuck the 3's we'd better hit them because with the fast-break style Missouri plays, we may not have a chance at many offensive boards.
Can't wait to see what this team does in conference!

McIntosh was willing to roll the dice.
Hannah's style of play also fits Mizzou better than it fits ISU. Hannah may not have fit well into GMac's system because he is unaccustomed to such a structured offense. He's a "run and gun" type of player.
It still would have been nice to see him in a Clone uniform.

Re: Missouri
Hannah had a pretty solid line in their win over Mississippi St tonight.
27 points on 10-20 shooting (3-7 3pt), 5 boards, 5 assists, 5 steals, 3 TOs.
I don't know that Mizzou would be considered world-beaters this year but they're a decent team and a bad matchup for ISU. Honestly, I'll be surprised if it's really close in Columbia.

Re: Missouri
Question: How good is Mississippi State? They're a 9-4 SEC team, but that's all I really know about them. I ask because they just played Mizzou and lost 83-75. I wonder if that gives us any insight regarding what we might expect from our guys in a few days.
True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Re: Missouri
Missouri is far from "good" but I would agree that they are better than us right now.
If he get hot shooting the ball, we can win.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Missouri
Las Vegas line is Missouri by 11. I think that's a little high, my odds would be around 8.5.
This is the classic game in the: one team will try to slow the game down (ISU) vs. one team that will try to speed the game up (Missouri). ISU has had one week to prepare, i'd be surprised if McD hasn't spent 2 hours/day working on breaking the press. Because of how much time ISU has to prepare, i think they'll be better against the press than people are thinking.
To me, this game comes down to Jiri. He's more athletic and faster than anything Mizzou has in the middle. Mizzou's two big middle guys (Grimes and Brown) don't even average 10 boards/game. I predict a lot of ISU second and third chances. If Jiri plays inspired, and Wesley and Clark control the boards, we've got a chance.

Simple equation= Who ever has less turnovers has chance to win!
