Let the Voting begin!
Saturday, September 15, 2007 Ames, Iowa is the site! The Hawkeyes are the team... The time, ~TBA~ What do you think Cyclone fans, do we beg the "white collars" within the Jake to bill this a prime time event under the lights? With all of the success, and, well... "near success" that we've had in night games in the past, Couldn't you just imagine what the atmosphere would be like for Gene Chizik & company? ...Sellout crowd, ...Heavy TV audience, ...tailgating like no other, How about something that has never been done in Ames before! Iowa @ Iowa State 7:30pm kick-off!

Re: Let the Voting begin!
I will need several "warm-up" events to get my liver ready for an all day excursion such as this. What is the latest the game has ever kicked off? I think it was at 5 p.m. in 2002 with the big comeback in Iowa City.

Re: Let the Voting begin!
To tell you the honest truth, I hate night games. They are always a dissappointment for us. 2:30 on ABC sounds good to me.
Boom.....transfer the karma -
Re: Let the Voting begin!
I think the TV schedule will dictates when the game is played. If it is an ESPN or ESPN2 game it has a better chance of being later in the day. If it is only picked up by local ESPN Plus, it's early. ABC either early or mid afternoon.

Re: Let the Voting begin!
I remember in '02 in Iowa City the game was rather late.

Re: Let the Voting begin!
I voted for the early start, mainly because waiting for the game to start is kind of like waiting to open presents Christmas morning. I really like night games though. -

It wont be on ESPN at all, The BIG 12 does not have any contract with ESPN, and since the game is played in a BIG 12 Stadium, if it were on TV, it will be at 11:30, 2:30 or 7 P.M. My guess is that if it is on TV it will be an 11:30 AM game.

Re: Let the Voting begin!
Nothin better than a mild september night under the lights playing your rival. I can't even imagine that atmosphere.

Re: Let the Voting begin!
ATMOSPHERE would be astounding... especially if Chizik and the cyclones win the first few with steam.. 55000 in a sea of cardinal, full of alcohol, ****** off and ready to fight.

Correct me if I am wrong was that not a 2001 game that was moved to November at 5 pm?

Re: Let the Voting begin!
I always like the night games. Seems like you can get more tailgating in and you don't have to get up so early. Although next year we'll probably bring up the RV the night before that we bought late last season and only got to use at the Mizzou game so the party will just start earlier for us anyways.

Re: Let the Voting begin!
The November 2001 game was early...11:00, I think.
The last Iowa game played at night in Ames was a 5:30 kick in '99, if I remember correctly, and there were so many problems after the game they said they weren't going to do that anymore. But, if there's a TV deal to be had they might change their tune.

Re: Let the Voting begin!
After all the night games last year I am burned out. We need more day games... An old guy like me cannot stay up till midnight at a football game

Re: Let the Voting begin!
Well not sure what kind of TV appeal it will have this coming season. Can't think that Iowa or ISU will have that high of expectations coming into the season on a national level.
