Jiri: I'm the little engine that could, except I'm not little. Coach spanked my bottom real hard after the OSU game - I finally learned my lesson. I still have the welt too, ya wanna see?

Dodie: Go me, it's my birthday!

G-Mac: I need a cigarette, a shower and a long nap.

he said we intentionally made the 1st half ugly because we needed to save our energy for the 2nd half...maybe he was jokin but it didnt sound like it

LOL, McD just did a quick imitation of Jiri regarding that bad free throw miss.

Gmac also pointed out the reason Rashon did not play in the 2nd half. Brock was a defensive force on Lawrence (he did not get good looks at the hoop). Gmac explained that to Rashon & Rashon understood & ACCEPTED it. In fact, he mentioned that he saw more leadership in Rashon tonight while he was on the bench than anytime this season. He was encouraging, coaching & rooting for his teammates. Then, when Rashon was asked to come in during the last D & O possessions, he executed EXACTLY how he needed to execute. This speaks volumes about Gmac & Rashon. I love this team!!!!!!

Dodie excited to do well on his birthday. Sounded like he had a lot of family at game. Said G-Mac told them to swing the ball side to side to beat press and get good shots in halfcourt.

Wesley said he was excited to play in his first Big 12 game after watching KU & UT growing up. Said Dodie isn't a kid anymore & joined the big boys with his 20th b-day.

G-Mac said everyone who played contributed. He mentioned Jacobson & Jessan's play.

John Walters kidded G-Mac about not seeing the final Mizzou TO because G-Mac standing in way.

Final play was for Taylor to shoot and Rashson & Wesley go for rebound.

Complemented Brock for shutting down Mizzou's Lawrence and not giving him an open shot. Said he decided to stick with Brock over Rashon in 2nd half because of Brock was getting job done. Gave Rashon credit for not pouting, cheering on his teammates and then coming in & playing well in the press.

G-Mac said they have been going 2 adays for the last couple weeks and this team has become tougher and really started to buy into the coaches message.

Talked about Mike making plays. Didn't get a ton of assists, but made the pass that got the assist.

Joked at the end about Jiri air balling the free throw late in the game. Said teammates were riding Jiri & Jiri commented that "Has never happened to me before".

I just moved to Kansas (yeah, I know, but work calls) and I was panicking b/c I didn't think i could get to listen to the games anymore without a paid subscription. However, 100.3 the Bus does a free online feed and i listened to the game and post game - if anyone's interested, it worked great for me.

The entire Big 12 never expected the Cyclones to be 1-0. Other league coaches are probably thinking- When that new coach gets more players to go with the three young studs they already have- watch out. Like the announcers said tonight- this was a big, big, statement game.
