I do not have any updates on his status but I believe that if he is healthy he could easily be the number 2 running back and the future starter. He has good speed, good moves, and good field vision. ISU has diffinately not seen the true potential that Scales does have. Some people may not realize but when he played in 2004 he was a true freshman and I would think that last year was just become a redshirt year for him. He is also not your normal football player because he wanted to come to ISU because of the education that he would get, he is a smart and really great guy.
He has great potential and you could see that in his high school career. 6,000 yards and 78 touchdowns in 3 years. Those are not playing in class A or 2A that is in 4A and is now the leading rusher in 4A history in Iowa. He also holds onto the bal very well, I dont have exact stats on his high school fumbles but I rarely remember him fumble maybe more then 5 times. The most of his fumbles were on punt returns also.
IMO there is no other person that I would have be the number two back for ISU.

yeah i saw his determination my frosh year when he moved in across the hall with my friend alan. he moved in a semester early and started his education and training so he could get a head start not only in football, but in school as well. He is truly a great and humble person, and I look forward to everything he can bring to our university, both on the field and off.
Sure, luck means a lot in football. Not having a good quarterback is bad luck

I saw him play some in HS, and I agree that he can be something special. I just hope last year's injury doesn't have any permanent effects.
Don't confuse hope for a plan. -

I think anyone could understand that 6,000 yards is very far from crap. He is also has a very good character, after a big game that he may have had something like 200-300 rushing yards he would talk about how good the linemen were blocking.
Your post is just a horrible addition to this topic and most of the other topics that you comment to just seem to be childish and not needed inputs. I could understand if you have a different opinion to the views that others of shown but doing it that way just makes you look stupid. It is not needed and not funny.

Agreed, its totally unnecessary to say something like that about a kid who could and probably will be a starter in the future and not only because of that, but as others said, hes a good person. His name has nothing to do with how good of an athlete or person he really is.

I don't see how he is crap. He is a soft spoken, hard working kid who does what is asked of him. I had a class with him, and he showed up and payed attention. I played football and track against him in highschool, and he always says hi to me, even though I that he recognizes me but has no clue who I am. The kid was killer in highschool football...I'm still amazed we beat him twice.

goonies come on we all come here to find out the latest news and discuss ISU sports. If that isnt what are here for then just please leave because it is a distraction on every single topic that you post in. If you have an opposing view point that is fine that would add to the discussion but when you just make these out of line childish comments it takes away from what everyone is really want to see which is ISU althletics.
mjones what high school did you go to? I went to Valley and it was really fun to cheer on Scales all through high school. I was also on the freshman football team and he was actually injured for some of that year but nothing as serious as this.
