Re: Pres Bush cuts into ISU game
Another prime example of politicians trying to make us out for idiots. Tonight they were interviewing Vilsak and he's doing his plotting for President and giving us his opinion of the war. He goes on by saying "we need to realize who the leaders are, not the commander in chief, but the citizens of the USA. All the citizens out there need to contact their representative or Senator and let them know that we shouldn't be sending anymore troops to Iraq and let them know we have no business in Iraq". So, Mr. Vilsak, if I am hearing you correctly, we are the leaders of the country, and since you want to be President, you start an agenda and tell us what we need to think when calling our congressmen to tell them what you want me to say so you can look like the hero.
I say this because he is a politician, not because he is affiliated with any party...promise

That being said, watch your *** over there. I think this is one of those things, that unless you've been a Guard/Reservist, you need to just STFU. I'm sorry you're "tired" of hearing these guys and gals gripe, but they've EARNED THE RIGHT to gripe all they want. I don't care what right or wrong is in your mind, but I have no patience for a civilians' viewpoint on this. I also despise Guardsmen/Reservists with no sense of duty, but a civvy who calls them out on it is lower than whale turds, as far as I'm concerned.
And, yeah, I'm in the Reserves, done my year+ in Iraq and am currently training both Active Duty and National Guard/Reserve units for duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. 24 years total service, 6 years Active, multiple deployments, etc., etc...

I'm gonna back you up on that one, even as a lowly civvy. How many enlisteds do you hear ********? The multiple ones I know are very committed to their job and the only thing they'd complain about is missing their family - which I think is entirely acceptible.
The military personnel I know are a cut above the general population, the only thing they need from the rest of us is support.

It sucks when I hit you where you live, doesn't it?
You think being tired of listening to soldiers gripe is tough? Try spending a year+ in Iraq. Or just get over yourself....

Re: Pres Bush cuts into ISU game
I can't wait to get negative rep for this one...
Sometimes it seems people join the army just to say "try a tour of duty in Iraq/Afghanistan then you can talk."
I'm sorry, but being in the military and spending time overseas doesn't automatically make your credibility skyrocket in my book. Don't get me wrong, serving our country is great and all, and someone has to do it...but please stop using it as a crutch to prove you can't be wrong.
Try battling cancer for 20 years, something you didn't sign up for, then I'll listen to you.

Wow, this kind of rubs against clones_jer's assessment that most military personnel are a notch above the general population. Someone needs a "chill pill."
