New Conference Record Predictions
Following our first two victories in the conference I, like many people, am much more optimistic about our conference record. I think we have a great shot against all of the north teams except Kansas, and we play all of them twice. I also think we could surprise some people, especially at Hilton. Make your predictions now, and note if they are any different from earlier. I picked 6 wins earlier this year, but I'm going to with 9 wins now. I think we will sweep Mizzouri, Nebraska, and Colorado for 6 of those wins. We will also split with K-State and beat Baylor and Oklahoma at Hilton.

Re: New Conference Record Predictions
I think you're getting a little ahead of yourself. I picked 6 also and would raise that to 7 at most for right now.

Re: New Conference Record Predictions
7 or 8 wins is my guess right now. It's hard to get ahead of yourself after only 2 conference games. If we go 3-0 then I think 8-8 or 9-7 becomes more realistic.

Re: New Conference Record Predictions
we are one of four teams that are undefeated in big XII play. I would put the over/under at 7 right now. We could win a couple we shouldn't and get 8 or we could lose one we shouldn't and get 6. I am hoping that we win more than a couple that we shouldn't but that is just me.

I will bump that up to 7 because of 2 reasons
1) Didn't expect the win at Missouri, so +1 there and
2) the unexpected good play of Jiri. I think his play will win us another game or 2 down the stretch at least
I am going to tame my expectations a bit because we still haven't really throttled anybody yet, the win at mizz. was a buzzer beater and easily could have lost that game (not to lessen the quality of the win, but it could have went either way)
But we are 2-0, got a road win under our belts, and with each victory I can only hope we get better and better.
Ask again after the game on Saturday, as Kansas is no slouch (just whipped #9 OKST by 30 points) and if we play close, or even win I would be comfortable with 9 win prediction.

There are actually 5 undefeated teams in the Big 12...ISU, Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech are all 2-0, and Kansas is now 1-0. It still feels damn good to be 2-0 and on top of the league...

If we beat Kansas I may just drop a load in my pants. I think the telling games will actually be the next two. We go on the road to Colorado and then come back to Hilton to play K-State. If we can play solidly and consitently enough to take those two then we are in good shape.

I think Kansas is real good this year and if we don't bring our best for both halves, I don't think we win. Even if we bring our best, we still might not get the W, we aren't just quite that good... yet . (I hope I am not giving them too much credit, didn't they lose to the oral Roberts school of dentistry?)
On the other hand, the next 2 games after KU are very winnable. Colorado has been a death trap for all cyclone bball teams in the past, even when we are good. I can say that I think we are better than they are at this moment and should be able to pick that one up on the road, but it will be a battle. K-state is respectable, although they just lost one of their best players. In front of the home court, we should get that one too.
I think the real telling sign will not be if we start 3-0 but if we can be at least 4-1 after the first 5 games. I am not expecting us to beat the best, but if we can beat the teams worse than us and defend the home court, 9 wins will be doable.

Re: New Conference Record Predictions
I picked 8 because I am optimistic. I think it'll probably be more like 6 or 7. If we beat Kansas, then I'll start getting really excited, but I don't want to get too excited yet. If our team comes out every night with the fire they had tonight, 9 is definitely doable. I thought our guys played this game almost like it was a Tournament game. It's good to see.

Re: New Conference Record Predictions
my predictions:
@ Missouri 66-65 (W)
Nebraska 71-62 (W)
Kansas 71-75 (L)
@ Colorado 68-58 (W)
Kansas St. 60-58 (W)
@ Oklahoma St. 67-78 (L)
@ Texas A&M 59-64 (L)
Baylor 75-66 (W)
Missouri 80-62 (W)
@ Texas 75-81 (L)
Oklahoma 65-70 (L)
@ Kansas St. 72-68 (W)
Colorado 83-77 (W)
@ Kansas 70-77 (L)
@ Nebraska 64-63 (W)
Texas Tech 75-84 (L)
That puts us at 9-7. Losses to TTech and Oklahoma could easily become wins. Optimistic? 11-5 Pessimistic? 7-9

While I would love to see 11-5, I really think that it will be more along the lines of 7-9. Like I said earlier, over/under should be 7 wins.

Re: New Conference Record Predictions
Mizzou is a decent team and just because we beat them in Columbia doesn't give us an automatic win in Hilton. Road games at K-State and Nebraska will not be cake walks either. That brings us down to six. We win two of those three and we are at 8. I still think that we will win 7. Let's hope this team proves me wrong and gets to 9 or more.
