Brant not invited to combines...Stephenson is

Our four year starting right tackle Aaron Brant was not among those invited to the NFL combine, while teammate Scott Stephenson was one of the centers to receive the honor of an invitation. Iowa had two offensive linemen invited to the combine.

On defense Deandre Jackson was invited to the combine but Big Play Curvey did not get an invite.

I am so happy for DeAndre. I was afraid his injury might keep him from gettnig a shot at the NFL. God bless that kid.

I definitely hope DeAndre makes it in the NFL...would be nice to say ISU 2 starting DB's at the next level.

Ellis Hobbs starts for New England, but I thought LaMarcus Hicks was also getting some playing time for Jacksonville this year.

Before Deandre Jackson got hurt he was projected as one of the top 5 DB's by NFL Draft Analyst, Mel Kiper. I don't know where he is now. If he does well in the combine his stock will increase.

As of today, there are only 2 DB/CB on Mel Kiper's Top 25 "Big Board", Leon Hall, CB, Michigan, and LeRon Landry, DB, LSU.

And this is surprising? As bad as our O-Line performed this year, if there are 2 potential draft picks in there, then Barney Cotton is an even worse coach than I thought

Mind the gap!

Brent Curvy non invite was a surprise.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

I agree...yet Curvey didn't exactly have a great statistical year being it was constantly doubled up on.

I still expect him to make a squad for exhibition season. Heaven knows, the houston texans and Oakland raiders need lots of help. He is from Houston area.

Heard today that the weakest position to find good players out of high school were defensive tackles.

I would love to see Stephenson make it in the NFL. I liked his attitude, size and determination. For the life of me, I just can't believe ISU'S Offensive Line was so Horrible. Hope to see Curvey get a shot too. On a different subject, I'm excited for Dobbins in the Playoffs and possibly the Superbowl...HITMAN

Dobbins isn't the only ISU player on a playoff team.

Re: Brant not invited to combines...Stephenson is

I like Stephenson as well and think he deserves a chance to play more than a lot of the other guys. If only he could have played on a good line. Aaron Brant was ****, he was never great only adequate, the tackles sucked over the last two years. Brant was one of the main reasons we lose the bowl game following the 2005 campaign, anyone remember how often someone was right in the face of Meyer over the last few years, he was a major disappointment as a cyclone.

Re: Brant not invited to combines...Stephenson is

I saw Brant play in high school, and I never thought that he was any good. At Dubuque Wahlert, he was the biggest guy, but he was never dominant in the Mississippi Valley Conference. I always wondered how he was the starter from the day he stepped on campus.

I remember the build up from the coaches about him, and I wondered why they were patting themselves on the back for recruiting a right tackle.

Right on, ISUFAN. Dobbins, Hobbs, and of course - Seneca Wallace.

Wallace already caught a pass on the first offensive play of the Seahawks first playoff game. I'm willing to bet that we might see him again, as Seattle's WR's are a little banged up right now. I heard an interview with Holmgren on the local sports radio earlier this week and he said before the Dallas game Darrell Jackson and DJ Hackett were questionable and they had Wallace practice as WR with the 1st team offense all week. Hackett ended up being ready to go, but they felt Wallace deserved to get in for a play due to his hard work.

Go Seahawks, beat da Bears!...sorry dad...

OOPS, MY BAD!! I just forgot about Hobbs, I did remember Seneca but I like San Diego's chances right now...Talking about Brandt, I saw him against CU and although he is big, he got handled ALOT...Something tells me Chizik will recruit quality over quantity...HITMAN
