The only bad thing I can see about the increase in price is fans will be impatient for wins to take place. After the coaching change, I kept reading on the boards how we need to be patient and let Chizik work to get his system rolling.

Now the cost to attend games is higher - I think that level of patience will significantly go down.

There is a lot of pressure now on Chizik, his staff and the players to be more completive in '07. The critical years will be '08 and '09. Apparently Jamie Pollard has the utmost faith in him. I will to.

I totally agree, at this level of ticket prices we should expect to see A&M type results. I want to see no less than Alamo bowl in 3 years, or I want my money back!

I am totally kidding btw, but if we pay these prices, that is the level of football we should expect. I just don't see that happening for at least 5-7 years.

I knew I should have contributed a $1,000 bucks way back when the stadium was built. But I was a poor student then. I suppose there are some sitting in seats that don't donate anything and the original donor has been dead for years.

Also, I am pretty sure that only Kansas and Baylor have cheaper tickets than ISU.

One of the things I am most suprised with is that even with our donations, we are being asked for $50 for parking too. That used to be the big perk in donating.

So park on Stanton and back-pack in like we do...unless you're a student, you're going to be sitting and consuming mass quantities of calories for 4 hours...might as well get some exercise! Plus, you can spend the $50 you save on food and beverages.

There are a lot of fans in the same boat as you Brian. I remember when Gene Smith upped the donor levels and fans that I know personally could NOT afford the increase and dropped their donation and season ticket purchase.

Hellsbells these same fans have never went back to the stadium since that time. I expect plenty of single game tickets for every game this year because both donations and season ticket sales will suffer because of the price increase.

Dont look for 30K season tickets this season...It just isnt gonna happen in 2007!

Then let's join the MAC just like the Hawk fans tell us to do. We can keep prices down, and probably compete with the Akron's of the world.

Nobody wants that, but when some people are asked to contribute, to a BCS program, at a monetary level that doesn't even put is in the top half of our conference, they throw a fit. I have argued with a lot of my Hawk fan friends that Iowa State fans are ready to ante up to become a TRULY competitive football program, not making a bowl because there are so damn many of them, but making an impact in the Big 12.

Now I read some of the posters on here, who wanted a winner, now complain about having to pay for it. Alas, I am becoming more and more fearful that I wasted a lot of breath telling people it was a new day in Cyclone athletics.

We have been getting way more than we have paid for for years now. If we truly want to perform at a higher level, we as fans must step up and make that happen.

There are cheaper ticket options if the new prices are too steep for you (hillside, endzone, etc.) Maybe you can split a parking pass with some friends. Just buy what you can afford, just like everything else in life. But its time to quit expecting something for nothing. Jaime has taken the first necessary steps towards that next level. If we as fans are serious about getting there, its time to get in line and follow.

Because what I read there are 50% saying they are fine with the hike and the other 50% saying it's a little too much BUT they will still be buying tickets and donating.

You got on a poster for saying something asinine...and this is your response? That's a whole host of assumptions ya just made.

Some may agree with the changes and some may not. That's no reason for the last few responses here.

No, what it is is a comparison to people who'd like to determine what kind of "fan" others should be. How they should spend their money, or what they should do in spending their money.

And what else it is is a remark to a host of people who are telling others to shut up and "pony up", when they themselves are taking all the breaks they can find and not exactly "ponying up". You don't have to go to far back and look at the NCC sign up thread in December, and cross that with those telling others to shut up about the increases.

It might also have something to do with a PM comment.

If some of these guys are ok with the hikes, fine. If they can afford it and then some without blinking - even better and I'm envious. Forgive me if I take exception to somebody accusing others of not wanting the best for ISU simply because they don't like paying $200 for 3 hours of football for two people, or more importantly - can't afford it any longer.

This couldn't come at a worse time for us financially either. We've got all our money tied up in the new house we're about to take possession of. Would be nice to have last year's ticket prices for this year.

It would also be nice to have an athletic director that wants ISU football to succeed and knows it can happen - and how to make it happen. Success comes with sacrifices. Sometimes that's fans giving up other things to support their football program. That also involves losing season ticket holders that can't justify the increased prices. I'm sure Pollard knows full well the risks associated with yet another bold move.

High risks come with high rewards or harsh defeat. I'm hoping we're in store for some great rewards. Everyone knows Cyclone fans have been clamoring for it.

I'll be very disappointed if fans down own up to the challenge. Many wanted a coaching change - a number a couple years before it happened. Regardless, it took place. Why did they want the change? They wanted more wins of course.

To me it would be very hypocritical of our fan base if we didn't take on the responsibilities involved with the change we so desired.

Wow this has been one of the most active threads I've seen in a while.

I know a lot of people who think nothing of spending $350 for a long weekend in Las Vegas and then they spend what ever additional on entertainment and food. JP is asking us to spend about that much and we get a bunch more weekends of games, tailgating, and entertainment right here in Iowa!

Everybody's budget is different. Some of the people who have written here obviously are going to have trouble coming up with the money. Okay, if that's the case don't buy the tickets or as one poster suggested get creative with the the type of ticket package you purchase.

JP is asking for a mid range value on tickets and parking relative to the rest of the Big 12. What's wrong with that? You get what you pay for and yes if we're in the middle we should expect to finish at least in the middle of the Big 12, but we all want more then that!

Being 24, I can get the Varsity ticket prices ($195) with a minimum donation of $50. Last year these tickets were $130. That's a 50% increase. That may be too much for some people right out of school still paying off student loans.

I'm not complaining because getting season tickets at the Varsity price is a special privilege and I don't see why some people can bash others for taking advantage of this offer.

I'm sure my post(s) can be interpreted that way, and I don't mean to bash people who take advantage of the Varsity program. I did for a number of years and would've for longer had I known about it earlier. It's there for a reason and if it's all you can do, it's all you can do.

What I take exception to is people who are getting a benefit, that then take it upon themselves to slam others footing a full bill and aren't happy about the bill getting heftier.
