Recruiting for schools with new coaches

This probably doesn't mean a whole lot one way or the other, especially since the coaching changes didn't all take place at the same time. But I took a look at commitment lists (Rivals.com) for the schools who had coaching changes along with Iowa State. Interesting if nothing else.

Michigan State - 14 - 2.64 avg. stars
NC State - 16 - 2.5 avg. stars
Minnesota - 21 - 2.29 avg. stars
Louisville - 12 - 2.93 avg. stars
Miami - 11 - 3.45 avg. stars
Alabama - 14 - 3.36 avg. stars
Boston College - 14 - 2.79 avg. stars
IOWA STATE - 9 - 2.67 avg. stars

Did I forget any?

JOIN THE NATIONAL CYCLONE CLUB!
“If we truly want to do this, this is the time to step up. Iowa State University has 175,000 living alumni. If one-of-every-10 living alumni joined the National Cyclone Club at the minimum level of $100, we could finance $30 million worth of construction." Jamie Pollard

Well take in account we could have about 12 or 13, but every time we get a recruit it seems one leaves. Hopefully we can hang onto the ones we got thus far.

Re: Recruiting for schools with new coaches

Which one has better information? 80% of the information is the same. Each database will track a few kids the other one doesn't or will go a little deeper to show more kids. They can't track everybody.

Rivals first posted CMU's Brian Kelly would be named the next Iowa State football Head Coach, which begs the question, "Where did they get their info?", and "Why did they post it if it wasn't fact?" If someone wants speculation instead of facts you can get more accurate information (flight tracking, etc...) from this message board.

Do recruiting databases really know who Chizik & Company are recruiting? They completely missed a few recent verbals. I'm convinced most of the time they find out ISU is on a kid's list because they are asking about their interest level in other schools. With this coaching staff, ISU ranks higher with kids than scouting services recognize. Like the coaching search, a lot of the recruiting is being done under the radar and maybe the coaches want it that way to eliminate competition for a recruit.

Coach Chizik and his staff are excellent recruiters who make a great impression when they are in a recruit's living room with the parents. A couple Auburn parents in Dallas for the Cotton Bowl told a friend of mine their son, and many kids on the Auburn defense, were recruited by Chizik. They loved him. Regarding the kids we lost, the new staff knew about the verbals we had and for one reason or another they didn't fit what the program needs.

We have an oustanding caoching staff. It will be fun to see the recruiting class when it's done.

Potentially we will have several openings left that we can utilize next year. That uis what Nebraska is doing with four people thgis year - left over slots from last year and one gray shirt where the kid opays his way for a year and does not start a redshirt.

Heard Craig Bohl of North Dakota State (33-11) and ex firee of Frank Solich as a defensive coordinator has been asked to interview for the Minnesoata job. Their 2.29 average star class still has no coach with signing period coming up 7 Feb.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.
