Is anyone else enjoying Cyclone basketball as much as I am this year? It has been a ton of fun watching thes guys improve. MT is an exciting presence, Jiri has just done a 180 in attitude and play, Dodie can just plain shoot. Put this together with Rashon's ability, CJs future and WJ could be one of the best freshmen in the country. Jessan Gray ahs given quality minutes as well. I am having a blast with the 2006-07 cyclone team coached by the new big Mac. Go cyclones!!!
I am as happy with GMac as I have been with any coach ISU has ever had.
Just think about how great next year could be with everyone coming back. Anything less than NCAA tournament will be a disappointment.
You are exactly right, this team is fun to watch. They have shown great improvement, and had they gotten some breaks late against Kansas, we would really be excited. It sure is refreshing watching players hustle, play together, and most importantly defend. Let's hope this team keeps getting better.
Yep, I have had more fun at our last 2 home games than I did at all of them for the last year and a half. There is just a whole new mindset in Hilton and on the court.

This is almost a downside of the play this year. I think when he was hired, most fans would have said "NCAA in the third year would be great", but with the success this year, he's moved that up a year.Quote:

With the level of play Gmac has gotten out of these "less talented" players we have this year, I can only imagine how good this team will be next year with a year of experience under their belt and the addition of some really quality ball players in Brackins and the other incoming players.
There's still a lot of Big 12 basketball to be played. Yes, we've played 3 good games to start out conference play, but a lot can change. Let's wait after a few more games to decide if we are just overachieving or we really can be that good this early. IMO it's just a sign of things to come in the future. I hope I'm wrong and the future is already here though.
I have to also agree it is fun to go to basketball games at Hilton again. Last year the team seemed to just give up if they lost the lead. This current teams keeps fighting, they pass the ball and I get excited to cheer for them. The NU and KU games definetly showed that. I can't wait for the game against KSU this next weekend. GO CYCLONES!!
Beginning the season I was thinking that this would be a typical Johnny Orr type team. Always the underdog; sometimes they show up and get a win against the odds and sometimes they fold. It's kinda been like that, but without the FOLD (at least not yet). Its been really fun watching this team and seeing them improve and get better. Jiri is a case in point. I think we were all were critical of his play early ... but I have to say that Mac really has done a great job of convincing Jiri of his value and role for this team. And that does not include playing on the perimeter and launching 3s. Jiri has bought in and has been rewarded with success! What more could you want? Yes, its been fun and I hope it keeps up. At this point I'm thinking NIT; maybe even NCAA but there is still a long way to go. I'm got FC again ... IF THE FREAKING GAMES ARE ON !!! Keep it up Mac and the clones. Wesley, you're a stud and my favorite player ...
I want an NCAA birth this year... we can do it.... I think we can finish 4th in the Big 12.
