Re: Best Sports Comedy Ever?
No doubt this vote should only come down to Major League, Slapshot, and Caddyshack!!! I can't choose.
Harry: "Monte, anything to add?"
Monte: "Uh, no."
Harry: "He's not the best colorman in the league for nothing."
Re: Best Sports Comedy Ever?
BaseKetBall is one of my favorite movies.........
Everyone knows Shaq made all of his money in college
[to a dying boy]
What is your last wish?
A date with Chelsea Clinton?
uh, you would have a better shot with Bill.......
How about hunting endangered animals?
You really aren't getting the point here are you?

Madona and Rosie = Horrible.
If that movie did not have Tom Hanks and Jon Lovite it would be the worst movie ever made. Right up there with Gigli

I have to admit that I just fast-forward through anything that doesn't have those two in it. I'm not a fan of most of the women (Geena Davis has kind of a horse-face, at the risk of sounding awful). I do like that a young Tea Leone (sp?) is in it.
Re: Best Sports Comedy Ever?
So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

I really feel a little bad putting it as a "(Dis)Honorable Mention" - I honestly have never seen the movie. Nor Air Bud. :baffled5wh:
Re: Best Sports Comedy Ever?
Janice: I hear baseball players make awfully good salaries nowadays.
Jake Taylor: Well it all depends on how good you are.
Janice: How good are you?
Jake Taylor: I make the league minimum.
Re: Best Sports Comedy Ever?
Well, when I was in 5th grade and still infatuated with Michael Jordan, and still young enough for cute cartoons, it was the bomb.
Some of the songs that made me cooler because they were on the soundtrack that i had:
Space Jam (obvioiusly)
I believe I can fly
Fly like an Eagle
Basketball Jones

Grandma: Sir, can I trouble you for a warm glass of milk? It helps me go to sleep.
Nursing Home Orderly: You can trouble me for a warm glass of shut-the-hell-up. Now, you will go to sleep or I will put you to sleep. Check out the name tag. You're in my world now, grandma.
Re: Best Sports Comedy Ever?
I would rank my favorites from this list:
Caddyshack
Slap Shot
Happy Gilmore
White Men Can't Jump
Teen Wolf (come on, even the stuff they didn't mean to be funny is hilarious)
Baseketball
Major League
The Sandlot
You can't really go wrong with any of those.
I liked Best in Show but I wouldn't consider it a sports movie.
