Just heard from a VERY reliable source that Dan McCarney will be an assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I beleive it is a flexible position that will let him leave to take a head job if he gets one...

Wow...Good for him..I wish only the BEST for Coach Mac, this will help him learn on game days how John Gruden runs things, He will get another HC job someday.....HITMAN

A Head Coaching job will be hard to come by for DMac...this is a good place for him to keep busy. Trend certainly is fresh faces for Head Coaching jobs, not coaches that others have fired.

He interviewed for the Defensive Coordinator position and was really up-beat about it. He has some connections there and it'll fit his style pretty well. I think the best part of it is he doesn't actually have to take a demotion since it's the NFL.

Best of luck to coach Mac. I read on the internet that winters are a little bit more nice in the Tampa area also. If it's on the internet it must be true. Here's a future what if.....How would people feel if coach Mac lead an NFL team to the superbowl someday? Assuming someday he is a head coach in the NFL or if Tampa's defense carry's the team to the superbowl someday. I'd be happy for him but at the same time it'd kind of feel like getting kicked in the groin. Knowing that we used to have him then kind of forced him out.

Was hoping to see Mac in the college game next season, but happy for him reguardless. He's a talent, who ever hires him is getting a good coach and man.

Does anyone know how this will affect payment of his remaining contract? My impression has been that any money earned from coaching will be subtracted from the amount due over the remainder of the contract.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say if this rumor is indeed true then there will be a lot more Tampa Bay fans in the state of Iowa.

Is he really getting the DC job there? That would almost be better than being a HC at a smaller, non-BCS school IMO.

Good for him. He has a lot to work with in Tampa...they were injury plagued this year.
