How in the hell is Alford still the coach at Iowa?

My God what does it take to get rid of him? he n his daddy have looted the state long enough he is a godawful coach. I read where the hawk fans think their bb future is equal to or better than ISU's!!! what are they smoking over there? Its like a cult or conspiracy with him still being there.

Please leave Steve Alford at Iowa... he is no way near the coach that Tom Davis was or is... and he hasn't recruited didly squat to the school.

I kind of liken this situation to having a dumba$$ neighbor, who you really don't like. You see him out in the yard doing something stupid, and your basic humanity tells you to go save him from himself, but the other side of you says, no, let's just watch and see what happens.

SA is my second favorite 'coach'. The only UofI item/thing/person I am a fan of is SA. If we all be quite and not praise him or ridicule him, let's hope the 3rd graders to the east don't pick up on it.

side note:

I absolutely love the Hilton upgrades. My first thought was "I am so proud to be an ISU fan", my second thought was "this is going to **** SA off, he will complain about his facilities versus what ISU has and make an extension stink about in the press". And that made me happy.

Lets hope that somehow Steve Alford wins 18 games and makes it to the final four in the conference tournament and maybe even to the NCAAs with a low seed. It is pretty hard to get rid of a coach that accomplishes that. Let him be a mediocre coach and achieve at that level. Best thing that can happen to Iowa is to keep SA with his level of achievment.

I don't know how Iowa could even think of getting rid of a guy that has so clearly taken them to the next level. And I want to again thank Bob Bowlsby for making sure they keep his services by give him a huge contract on his way out of town!

Side note: Does anyone think that Bob was kind of give the U of I a screw you. I mean no one would have done that if you really cared about the place.

You want to know how Steve is still the coach? Look at the 12 year McCarney oddessey. The only difference is Mac brought his program from the dregs of college football to relevance, while Alford took a perrenial NCAA tourney team to... whatever they got going on over there.
