Dan Mac considered for Cowboys HC position
Since Parcells quit, this may be a good place for Mac. What do you think?

Re: Dan Mac considered for Cowboys HC position
i thought all the previous forums made it clear. Mac isnt going to get a top HC job anytime soon. especially in the pros. He was fired for poor performance. That does not bode well on any resume`.

How about we wait until Mac actually gets a job and then talk about it? This is getting really old.

Although, in a moment it will be merged with the other thread.

I hope you aren't serious.

Re: Best place for Mac to return to?
Well it took longer than I thought it would for someone to start the Mac to the Cowboys thread.
The sad part is that the point that you are trying to make with this ridiculous thread, whoever started it, was missed.

Now why do these threads continue and get tons of views? Because of what's going on right now. By continually dredging up the same "argument" again and again - you're not killing the discussions - but instead adding to the number of posts and views you speak of.
Dan McCarney did a job at ISU. He was paid to do it. He won games and he lost games. He constantly motivated players/fans and he also ripped out our hearts a few too many times. He accomplished good things and he made plenty of mistakes. He turned some walk-ons into great players and make some recruiting decisions that confused the heck out of us. He led his team in come-from-behind victories on the road and gave up a 28-0 half-time lead to lose at home. He helped snap the losing streak to Iowa & Nebraska and lost to the likes of UConn & Baylor.
Fans will love him and dislike him for some of those things. However, these last two things are virtually not debatable...
- He poured his heart and soul into Cyclone football.
- He helped put the program into a position to have the ability to hire a guy like Gene Chizik. Actually, I think some of our fans that are McCarney supporters have had their expectations met. Unfortunately, they have bought into the "this is as good as it gets" and "we can't do any better" arguments. I personally refuse to accept this sort of "defeatism".
Actually, McCarney being seriously considered for major jobs is not going on right now...except right here by his supporters. Don't you find it interesting that when someone on this thread sarcastically talks about McCarney getting the Dallas Cowboy job...some people don't realize it is a sarcastic joke. Anyone that gives serious consideration to the thought of McCarney to the Cowboys as head coach is delusional (at best).
"Dan McCarney did a job at ISU. He was paid to do it.". WOW! What an epitaph for the McCarney Era! Frankly, he won far too few games and lost far too many and was given far too long to do it (in my opinion). I also find this "motivator" argument interesting. You would think if he was such a great motivator of players that we would have had a few major victories over great teams (upsets). You would think if he was such a great motivator of fans that we would have sold out Jack Trice on a regular basis.
If you really have bought into McCarney's "spin" that "he poured his heart and soul into Cyclone football" and did everything humanly possible that he could for the program...then you have to admit he is just not a very good coach.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

Re: Kiffin, 31, succeeds Shell as Raiders coach
Maybe we can get DM hired by the Raiders.
(I just wanted to be the first one to start the rumor for this team/position.)

Re: Parcells hangs it up, again
Monte Kiffin going to Oakland may mean some openings for Dan also (at both Oakland or Tampa Bay.) Dan knows Monte from way back.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
