Seneca and Hasselbeck

Seneca may get his chance to start out the season next year. Hasselbeck just had shoulder surgery and will likely not be able to participate in offseason workouts. This could lead to seneca being the starter through preseason and maybe even into the regular season.

Lets hope that seneca continues to impress when he has the chance.

I read he was going to have shoulder surgery but didn't pay close enough attention to how long he would be out.

Matt's a tough cookie. Plus, everyone said Drew Brees wouldn't be ready after his shoulder surgery and I think it was much more severe.

So, we'll have to see how long it will actually take Matt. I'd love to see Seneca get another shot. He's had a few "auditions". Seattle sure doesn't want to let him go anytime soon though. And, Matt isn't going anywhere either.

It's also Matt's non-throwing shoulder. He'll also be getting his broken fingers in his left hand (non throwing hand) operated on as well.

its kind of a crappy situation that he is in. I don't know if he could actually be a starter anywhere right now but just to hold on to both of the quaterbacks so tightly...it sucks for the second string guy who doesn't really get a chance to shine.

Seneca is going in Free agent status, I beleive I am correct on this........does Seahawks step up with new contract or does he look around for a starting role elsewhere?

Seneca signed on for another year during the season.

I believe Seneca got at least a two year extension last year. He was a restricted free agent after last season, but resigned with the Seahawks.

Thanks, at some point I knew his contract expired soon, didn't hear he resigned a new one.

last offseason he signed a one year deal (for this year that just finished) and then prior to his last start he signed a one year extension (next year)

Did anyone watch any of the Vikings' games this year? Being a Vikes fan, I know Seneca could easily be a starter for Minnesota.

However, with his contract extension, it doesn't look like he'll have chance to prove for a couple more years.

Truthfully, if I were him I'd keep signing on as a backup QB too. Talk about a great job, you don't do anything all year and if you do have to go in and play, everyone gives you the benefit of the doubt if you screw up.

ya but u dont work ur *** off to become a backup in the NFL.. i know if i ever made it i would do anything to play, ya its not bad to get a nice paycheck for sitting on the bench, but really, a guy like seneca that loves the game, im sure he would love to start every game somwhere.. but with that said, he knows the seatle offense so well, and it took hi solong to learn it, i dont think he wants to leave..

I guess the way I see it, there's plenty of guys who worked their ***'s off only to be bartending now that they're done playing college football. I get what you're saying but he can't be too devastated about getting paid to watch live NFL football every week.
