I haven't watched my tape of the Kansas State game yet (I had to work yesterday afternoon), but I did see in the box score that Marsden didn't play at all? Has he had a relapse and is sick again, or is he just not quite in game shape yet for the Big 12?
I'd say we can definitely use him, and I'll go out on a limb and say that we probably would have at least one or two more wins with him in the lineup if he had not gotten sick. His stats aren't great, but he's a big body and is our best post defender, IMO.

The few times I've seen him play this season, he hasn't defended very well. Mono's a tough one. I suspect he's still just a bit weak from that and has lost his edge and we're now in the heart of the season and need strong bodies.

I would guess that Jiri's surprising play means that McDermott wants him on the floor as much as possible and that Gray and Johnson have shown themselves to be better players in practice. There aren't minutes for another person.

Can he be redshirted?

Mono can be very tough, especially on a basketball player since he missed practice and strength. He probably won't see more than a few more minutes from him this year, but he'll bounce back next year and will be a good post player for us.

I'm sure Ross is a great guy and that the mono affected his play this year, but I just don't think he'll ever be a Big XII ball player. He's got some size, but he doens't seem to have the court sense or footwork to use it all that well. Honestly, I think that he may be our worst defender in my opinion, and he doens't give us much on the offensive side of the ball. Who knows, maybe he will have a turnaround like Jiri, but I just don't think it's in the cards for him.

His illness may have set him back, but he just doesn't seem to have the foot speed to be a major contributor on a quality Big 12 team.
I believe he played in the CU game so I doubt he can redshirt- I believe the rule is a kid can't play in more than 20% of his teams games and can't play after the mid-point in his teams schedule.
At this point in Ross' career if G-Mac doesn't project him to be a starter or first post guy off the bench, redshirting doesn't make much sense.

I don't know about his Mono situation but I do know that Jiri is doing the job so he gets the minutes. If Jiri got into foul trouble my guess would be Corey first then Ross. Just not many minutes available even if Ross is healthy.

Mono and Jiri playing well are impacting his minutes. Cory J. has been doing well too, also having an impact.
But I think the mono illness is the biggest factor.
