This game was along time ago, against pius xi. This was a good test for Garrett as he goes up against Korie Lucious a 4 star recruit for Michigan St.
You really dont see to much of Diante till a little later, shot mostly penatrating lay-ins, and had a couple of dunks towards the end...enjoy! http://link.brightcove.com/services/...bctid372181122 | | |

This kid is solid! Good height for a pt guard and smooth with the dribble. How is his 3pt shooting?

Delt- I don't think Diante's 3-point shot is his forte. He may turn out to be quite good behind the arc, but I see GMac using him mainly as the guy penetrating, and Lucca Staiger being the long sharp-shooter, with of course Brackins down low. What an exciting class!

The only thing that worries me is the shooting and the high dribble. Other than that....The Kid is nuts. That highschool game was probably better than most Division 3 games I have seen. How many D1 players were on the court?

I saw I few guys I wouldn't mind coming to ISU along with Garrett.
Those two dunks from Diante right in a row were vicious!

HS, I've been thinking the same thing about the high dribble, but it's not bad. I think a lot of taller guards have a problem with keeping the dribble shorter with him not being an exception.
That brings me to a question I've been pondering....They say DG can play both the 1 and the 2. Lucca is probably a 1 or 2. And given our problems this year with turnovers.....Do we have a clear cut guy to run the point next year?

We don't have him as a clear cut contender for point guard til he starts practice here next year.

Bub, so we agree? I've been thinking about who we have right now....and these guys coming in (none of which played the point in HS). Are we going to limit the turnover problem next year?.....

I was just stating to not take anything away from the guys we have now. A year of college basketball goes a long way. I'd love to see Garrett play immediately, but we really can't determine if he will or not.

How he's not on any top 100 lists boggles my mind. He's every bit as good as Lucious in that video. He showed explosion, smooth dribble control, and some pizzaz. I'm excited for this kid!

Lucious is very quick and a good outside shooter but he is very little (listing him at 5'10" is a stretch). Diante is 6'3"-6'4" with long arms. He is not a 3 point shooter but more of a driver and mid-range shooter. With his height and athletic ability, he can get up over people in the lane. Lucious gets lost in the land of the giants inside. Many people in Wisconsin feel that Diante may be a future NBA prospect. Only time will tell. Lucious is now attending his third high school in three years. Diante is the best player on the #1 team in Wisconsin and he is a big part of the reason they are what they are. The reason his ranking is not that high is because he missed much of last season with a cracked collar bone he incurred in an automobile accident. The kid is for real!!!
