"Hobbs had been a difference maker in this game so far..." More love for our man Ellis B Hobbs III.

Re: E Hobbs getting some love

It would be nice to have Hobbs in the game on the 4th.......BUT.....Maybe, just maybe I can quit hearing about how P. Manning can't ever win/get to the big game. That is a story that needs to quit being told every second of every NFL segment.

I don't know. I see it all the time in college and it's not called. Maybe there is a college referee among us that can clarify things.

You will forgive me for not taking your word for it, as I would like a rule book link or something that tells me.

Manning just said in his news conference "It was scary watching those kickoffs, it wasn't fun watching Hobbs run down the field"

6 returns for 220 yards, not bad Hobbs!

On the replay of Hobbs' big 3rd quarter return on SportsCenter they said "...the former Iowa State Cyclone..." Thanks for the pub Ellis!

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: E Hobbs getting some love

Okay, I've scanned the rulebook and here's all that I've found:

"Rule 7, Section 3, Article 8-a: A Team B player, defending against a legal forward pass beyond the neutral zone, has his back to the ball and is waving his arms in the face of an eligible player of Team A, who, in his attempt to catch the pass, bumps into the Team B player. RULING: Pass interference by the Team B player, first down. He was not making a bona fide attempt to catch or bat the pass."

This makes it seem as though face-guarding is legal as long as the players do not make contact (even if the receiver reaches out to catch the ball and bumps the defender it's defensive pass interference). If a player face-guards and they don't make any contact whatsoever I think it would be entirely legal.

Edit: This is the NCAA rulebook, I'm trying to resolve the college question.

TRUE AND VALIANT

Gotta love the tenacity of the Bears. If Mean Gene can get our team to play with that grit and desire, we will be a really good team.

ya, but the other thing is really he did go after the ball, because as a DB u look to see where the WR arms are, sooooo u can bat the ball down..not matter what its a dumb rule
