Always a conspiracy theory, eh?

Contrary to what you may believe - not everything here has some correlation with our former head football coach.

Re: Bench Bret Meyer?

I would imagine that Brett is the man to beat, if others are going to challange for the job. that being said, he took an absolute beating last year so on his bad days i think there was a reason for it he was being pasted all season.

i think my favorite series brett ran all year was against texas on the first td isu scored, because it was all individual effort and the little flip pass for the score was a great effort. I would imagine coach chizak remembers that series very well. brett definately has it in him to succeed, but needs a little help and he didnt get a lot of it.

we can say what we want and discuss what we want. The final word will always be the Coach. Therefor I support the coach and what the coach and program does. Whether the outcome is good or bad

Well said. I also thought this was one of our best drives of the season - against a pretty good defense too.

I can only wonder what that game would've looked like had Parker not committed a personal foul on a 3rd and long pass that went incomplete at the end of the first half. No, I don't think we would've won - yet maybe we could've been a bit closer to 'em.

So, at what point do you go to Arnaud or Bates (if Bates not redshirted)? Or do you at all?

Lets say we're 2-7 - regardless of QB play - do you go to the younger guy to get him ready for '08?

Or if Bret is having troubles - offensive line struggles or not - does he move to #2 in the depth charts?

.

Did I miss GC naming the starters already. How can anyone get moved to #2 prior to the #1's being listed?

I think I would overlook any bad habits Brett has developed with horrible offensive lines. The first area of concern is protecting him and giving him time. Only looking to one receiver? It's amazing at this point that he doesn't snap the ball and immediately go into the fetal position, or go hauling a$$ the opposite way.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, because the Mac threads were getting stale.

But if you want a serious response, then Bret is a three year starter at QB. He has most of the ISU passing records, and has been the MVP of the Independence Bowl. The job is his to lose, I am just interested to see how he does when he is actually coached, and we actually run an offense that suits his strengths.

He has earned the right, that if he wins the job in pre-season, and gives us the best chance to win, to play all the games. That being said, I think that Bret is the type of player that if he is struggling, he could benefit from watching a series.

I don't know the answer, I guess that until the new staff shows that they are incompetent, I will trust their decisions.
