I mentioned this in the Illinois recap thread but decided it's worthy of it's own.
This is Iowa State freshman Pete Majkozak (#16 in blue). Just before this clip, Illinois defender Pat Mannina took a run at him away from the puck. Majkozak retaliated, Mannina dropped the gloves, and the linesmen didn't stop them. Watch for the dust-off at the end. |

They may have lost both games...but I think the victor in that fight was clear. GO STATE!

I think the most amazing part of the fight is how Majkozak comes back from being down on his knee. The first half of the fight is all one-sided for Mannina but Majkozak pops a good one and takes over.

Just, FYI. Cyclone Hockey in no way condones the act of fighting, but hockey is an emotional game. Like Stumpy said. Pete was run behind the play, and Mannina had been taking runs at our players all game long and is notorious for fighting.
Pete will be suspended for one game. Sometimes, you just have to stand up for yourself and for your teammates.

I don't condone fighting either, but after what Illinois did to Matt McLin in that game, I am kinda glad someone settled the score.

Way to go Majkozak! He definitely won that one, and it was definitley worth a one game suspension... Glad to see that he stuck up for himself and his teammates, especially after McLin got mauled with no repercussion. Go State! Can't wait for this weekend!
