Interviewing Garrett to see what head coach they need - offensive or defensive. Jones has always liked Garrett (as have I) and many speculate he'll eventually be the head coach in Dallas.
Personally I'd be much more in favor of Wade over Norv. While Norv was a great OC in Dallas that helped them win - I never saw him as a head coach. Plus I think Phillips and the Cowboy personnel on defense fits perfectly.
Interesting that the head coaching position seems to hinge so much on the abilities of a targeted OC.

Both these guys are great coordinators, but never great head coaches, I hate when owners can't realize who are good coaches and good coordinators. Wannstedt, Turner, Phillips, just to name a few, coordinators, not coaches!!! Cam Cameron, coordinator, not a coach, why would you hire someone who couldn't succeed at Indiana, come on, he is a good COORDINATOR, some owners just look at the hot names and forget to do research, I think, I don't think Huizenga realized he was hiring the old Indiana coach whose offense consisted of Randle El running in circles, whose offensie line coach was MARTY FRICKIN FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuner or Phillips? I just got a flashback to Handy Manny episodes. Wait no that was Turner or Philipe.

As a Cowboys fan, I don't know who I want most. Both Turner and Phillips bring positive qualities, but their career record as a head coach impresses no one.

Neither have had much success as head coaches. I think Jerry is going to go for a big name. I'm hearing Dan Reeves name pop up. However, until Jerry stops bringing in players like Owens, the problems won't end.

Reports are Garrett has been hired by Dallas... ESPN link
What's interesting, as some specualted - the role is not yet determined. It seems he'll be at minimum the OC and possibly - get the HC job.
Very interesting to take a guy like Garrett who's been nothing more than a back-up QB and QB coach - directly to head coach - should that happen.
Toss in dealing with T.O. and all that a Dallas HC has to tolerate - woah- that's a lot for a green guy like Garrett.
More "drama" in Big D.....

I'd think Dallas could get someone better than either of these 2 guys. Why would they want to recycle old head coaches?
I'm surprised Chicago D-Coord Ron Riveria hasn't gotten any offers. I guess that could be that his team is still playing.
Maybe they should go after Nick Saban.

No one can even talk to Rivera right now.

So it could turn out that taking a team to a Super Bowl could actually cost some coordinators a shot at being a HC the next year...

As a Dallas Cowboy fan I would really like to see Lovie Smith in Dallas...its kind of an outside chance, but it's been thrown around. Lovie grew up idolizing the Cowboys and Jerry Jones absolutely loves him. Also you KNOW he would no longer be the lowest paid coach, not even close, he might even become the highest paid, bcuz you know Jones is not shy about dishing out top dollars.

When did teams start hiring coordinators before head coaches? I don't ever remember this being done before this year. Seems odd...

Lovie will get a nice fat raise at the end of this year, you can count on that.
