It looks like there is going to be a huge influx of JC OL this year. Does this reinforce the feeling several people had that there are onlyu one or two returning OL that will contribute? I was hoping it wasn't that scary.

unless a few of the other guys step up and show some unexpected talent, I would say Stephens and Schmeling and maybe one other guys, will be the only ones really competing with the four jucos and Osemele
Well it looks like our center is Joe McMahon by default, unless a guard like Schmeling or Blaes is moved there. Our guard situation seems OK. Schmeling and Stephens both started games last year, and I believe that Stephens is the better of the two and will start at RG this year. Then we have Joe Blaes, who should start, and Alvarez who I know little about. Tackle is kind of thin. Doug Dedrick is in the 280s and Lee Tibbs played sparingly last year. Maybe a guy like a Jose Vargas will step up. Or they could throw a true frosh like Osemele to the dogs.
I really don't see guys like Landon Streit, Joe Vanstrom, or Brandon Cook really stepping up. If they couldn't make the depth chart last year and you've been in the program awhile than they probably arent Big 12 caliber.
Matt Hulbert is not physically ready to play yet, and there are probably some guys getting groomed for OL aka Lamaak and Devin McDowell...jk
But anyways our offensive success will be put on the shoulders of these unexperienced young men. Bass and Scales aren't bruisers and aren't gonna break many tackles so there must be holes. They are much smaller than last year so who knows, they should be able to pass block better than the Fishers though.
I have no idea why, but for some reason I get the feeling that we will be OK at OL. Not stellar or dominating but I think they will play more as a unit and develop and gel together. I hope anyway.
My post really has no value other than hope. LOL.
OL candidates are usually listed in that manner - offensive line. Is there a distinction between guard and tackle or are they pretty much interchangable. Also, we rarely see a prospect listed as a center, and that seems to me to be an obviously specialized position. Can a guard or tackle easily move to center?
We also have Goos yet I believe. If nothing else he is a big body.
