Re: Mediacom to Increase Rates
Sounds like collusion between providers or ESPN has upped their prices.

And the cable wars continue...

Re: Mediacom to Increase Rates
The one big bonus with mediacom is that they carry so much ISU content that wouldn't otherwise be available. I wouldn't be able to watch the A&M game tonight if I had dish.

Re: Mediacom to Increase Rates
Was with Cable since 1994. Switched to Dish and Qwest DSL last week and couldn't be happier. Picture is better, cable is NO SLOWER then Mediacom for what I use it for and I will be paying $51/month instead of $104/month when I was with Mediacom. The ONLY thing I miss is the Cyclone games but I'll get by. Better by far now then before

Re: Mediacom to Increase Rates
Remember that Mediacom is far bigger then the Des Moines market. The Fox thing was localized to the Des Moines market. Sinclair owned the ABC affiliate in Northern Florida so the Mediacom subscribers down there lost ABC and not Fox over the Sinclair battle. Many other Mediacom areas were not affected by Sinclair at all.
I think the rate increase was caused by the preimium channels raising rates across the board and simply passed on.
Either way, not a positive for the "515" Mediacom folks already leaving in droves!

This battle effects 22 out of 58 Sinclair owned TV stations in several midwest & southeast states.

Re: Mediacom to Increase Rates
Just something to share that I forgot about:
When I went to the Mediacom office a couple of weeks ago to turn in my equipment, there were 6 other people turning in equipment at the same time.
I'd be curious to know how many customers they have lost in the last month.

Re: Mediacom to Increase Rates
What a horrible time to increase everyones bills. I we can't give you Fox right now so we are going to go ahead and charge you more. You would think if anything the price would go down since nobody is getting fox anymore.

I'd be curious to know how many customers they have lost in the last month. I had DirecTV installed on Saturday and Monday when I returned my equipment (cable modem standard digital receiver, and an HD/DVR receiver) there were at least 2 or 3 other people doing the same. At least over in Eastern Iowa, sales of DirecTV and Dish Network have jumped: http://www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=146394 -
Re: Mediacom to Increase Rates
How much do you guys pay for DirecTV and the DSL? I would really miss some of the local stuff and ISU games on channel 22, but if you guys really are paying 50 bucks a month I really have to start considering the change. Is it really 51 dollars or is that some sort of introductory offer?

I'm not a big gaming geek and honestly, I cann't tell the difference between DSL & MCHSI.
My DirecTV bill will probably be high as I have Total Choice Plus, 3 receivers, DVR fee, and their sports package.
