I was relatively young at the time, but couldn't you make a decent case to pick Willoughby over Recker? The rest of it looks good to me.

Ricky Davis was pretty good as well...even though he was only there for a year.

I really like Dedric and think he was so under-rated and still is. He was a great player in a somewhat awkward role at times. I have the same as Bryce but Dedric instead of Recker.

I would take Horton over Blalock any day

Just to spice it up even more...who would you have to COACH these teams?
1st: Tim Floyd
2nd: Larry Eustachy
3rd: Tom Davis

I was about 11 or 12 when Dedric was done heres, while I didn't have as good of an understanding of the game as I do now, I absolutely loved that guy when I was a kid.

Hmm.....an Iowa message board copying an idea set by the ISU athletic department. Shocking.
I think you did a good job Bryce, but I would slide Recker into Horner's spot and take Horner out completely, replacing him with Sullivan on the third team. I just don't think Horner had much other than his shot, and it went downhill his senior year. Also, I'd flip Homan and Vroman. I just think Homan played with more fire, and although he didn't have the range that Vroman did, he had a jumphook that couldn't be stopped.

I guess it depends if you're talking about when he was at his best. He didn't have a great offensive game and he was a foul machine when he was younger. But then again, his aggressive defense is what helped him get so many blocks.
Didn't Vroman lead the Big XII in rebounding one year or at least come close? I seem to recall him leading it at a time.

I like all 3 of those coaches but I still pick Larry with Tim a very close 2nd. Tim was more of the recruiter but Larry was one heck of a gameday coach and got the most out of what he had to work with.
Funny you didn't put Alford on the list since he has been at Iowa what, 7 or 8 years now? Although we all know he's just get 4th place so what would be the point. Steve MIGHT beat out Wayne Morgan though but that would be a tough call. Actually Steve would probably get the edge with that battle since he at least as been able to keep his job this long.

Willoughby was a senior exactly 10 years ago so I was kind of counting him out of the 10 year window, even though he had one year in it. And yes, Dedric was what got me really excited about the Cyclones. I had his jersey.
I'd definitly take Floyd as the coach, he so dang consistent and always put good teams on the floor.
Vroman averaged over 10 rpg one year, and led the Big 12 in rebounding one year, yes. Homan just finished so weakly around the rim (I don't know how many times I said, "dunk that F'n basketball Homan!") and got blocked on layups so many times it just pissed me off.
I understand the Sullivan thing, but I just think Horner was a more complete player than Sullivan. He ran the point, had an almost 3/1 a/to ratio, and was a great leader on the floor. I don't know if you guys remember the "jake as a pg" year, but that was rough.
Now that you mention it, I would probably drop Horner down to 3rd team and put Willoughby at 2nd team. Excellent point.

Although they are perhaps the best players, wouldnt Andre and Jamaal be too similar to work really well? I think you'd be better to get a more pure shooter in there.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big Iowa State fan, but I think I would take Ryan Bowen on the 2nd team and move Vroman to the 3rd. Bowen played real hard for all four years he was at Iowa and in the NBA for many years.
Otherwise I think you did a good job with your list.
