Do you know if Chad Millard is seriously considering us? I heard on the board that he had sent a letter to ISU, dont know if its true or not. Also, is this guy any good?

He is seriously considering ISU if ISU has a spot for him. I know he sent his letter to ISU. He once attended Brewster (aka the ISU minor league test pool) and had been recruited by Morgan and the previous staff when at ISU. He didn't play a ton last year so he didn't look that great but he is a pretty solid player that was well recruited out of high school. I know Iowa and Miami are going after him pretty hard right now. I think if the coaching staff wanted him, they could possibly get him without a lot of work. Of course he would have to sit out the 06-07 season and would be eligible the same time as Alex Thompson. I haven't talked to the coaching staff yet on this possible transfer so I can't talk about their interest level as of yet. I know they are aware of him and are looking at the possibilities. I will update you after I talk to some people later this afternoon.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -
More information that I wanted to pass along. For some referense on Millard, when he was in high school, there was a ton of interest in him by major programs. Louisville, NC State, ISU, Syracuse, USC, West Virginia, Missouri, Florida, Boston College, and Creighton were the most interested parties at the time. The rating services had him around a high 3*, low 4* player at the time if I remember right.

Jeremy,
How would he rack up against say McFarland or some of the other players we are interested in for '07-'08?

Louisville fans are saying he played hurt most of the year last year...
-
let's hope he comes on board...
-
What schools is he interested in? What are his interest levels on those schools?
-
A better question is how would he stack up against Leuer....
-
If it was up to me, I would take Leuer first, then McFarland, and then Millard. But it's not up to me and it's more than a question of who is better. It also is a question of who can we get, and only the players themselves can answer that. The staff must dicide on whether to take a chance on the more skilled player, or the one most likely to commit to ISU. That's why they get the big bucks. We can't take all three because we also need a guard.
For what it's worth, Millard was ranked 88 by The Sporting News in the fall of his senior year at Brewster. And the head coach at ISU during that fall was Larry Eustachy.

I'm always wary about taking on somebody else's castoffs. He seems like a project, and I'd rather have projects that have four years to develop and don't have to sit out a year eating up a scholarship.

I think at this point he his sending out feelers but I haven't heard of a ton of interest within ISU regarding Millard. I think we have some better prospects out there that are both highly ranked and highly interested in ISU. While Millard has a lot of upside, he does have some questions and concerns that would need to be answered before we was ever brought in.
