What bar in Des Moines isn't pricey drink wise?

AKs in WDM has 1/2 price drinks and appetizers until 7, that ends up being pretty cheap.

Re: Des Moines area sports bar
There's that bar down in Valley Juntion. Wagner's 5th street pub, I think. It's been a while, but that is the type of place that you walk in with $10 and stumble out with $5. Beer anyway. Kind of a Hawk bar, but not a bad place to just have a gathering. Can be smokey. Haven't had them, but they supposedly have the best tacos around.
Another place that's fun is Cumming Tap south of town. I've never griped about the tab down there. And it's also where I met my wife - sorta. Bambino's down in Aurila had cheap drinks when we went a week, or so, ago. It's on the bike trail heading down to Cumming, and they're trying to draw that crowd. They're going to have a padio and sure to have all kinds of specials through the year. Food was iffy.
We're all about people helpin' people.
Don't drink and drive.
