For those of you still at work, the roads between Ames and Des Moines are completely ice covered. They don't look too bad but cars were going in the ditch right and left on my way home tonight, and we were all only going around 20mph.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.
ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." | |

I was just on the roads in eastern iowa here and they are not that bad here. Did you guys get a bunch of snow or something?

Great, I'm leaving Des Moines for Ames at 7. Think I-35 would be better than 65/69 or 14th street or whichever you want to call it? 65/69 won't be as busy but they don't seem to clear it as well as I-35.

might be a lil bit better, i saw some trucks going out onto the interstate not to long ago

I don't get off work until 8...hopefully that's enough time for them to get I-35 under control, but I see on the iowa road conditions website it says partially covered and towing prohibited...great...

"Towing prohibited" is DoT-ese for "Oh, $&%#!". Stay off the roads as long as possible. I-35 from Oralabor Rd. to Ames is always the very last thing to get cleared... I nearly died more than once driving it during that giant blizzard we had on the 20th.
