2-5 sucks, especially after a 2-0 start. 5 straight L's have got me down, but let's be honest here, it's not surprising or unreasonable for us to have lost the last 5. 3 of those games were against ranked teams, 2 of which were on the road. Another was the loss at Colorado, where ISU teams traditionally fall short. That leaves only the home loss to KSU, which is the most suspect of the 5 losses, but still isn't unthinkable. We've got a little bit of a breather with 2 home games upcoming, and we could come out of it 4-5. We've shot around 30% the past few games, and there's no way that's going to keep up forever. Give it time, it'll click.

Very valid points. I think we as Cyclone fans forgot how rough a year this was actually going to be after beating Missouri and Nebraska (two poor teams that are worse than us) and holding our own against Kansas (who never does well at Hilton). I think it's becoming abundantly clear that as of right now we just don't have the talent to compete day in and day out in the Big XII.
That all changes next year, though! |

Well said. The Colorado and KSU losses were difficult to swallow but the other three games we played very, very tough competition. I would liked to have seen some improvement against A&M but we can certainly still have a respectable season. The Baylor game will be a great chance for a turn around.

Sorry, but I thought the embarassment at Colorado was the statement game for our season. And, I think that Baylor will be a huge challenge at home. I hope I'm wrong. I do have great hope for next year and beyond.

Unfortunatly the season is going like most experts(including GMac) predicted. It's a tough conference and we're just too thin. However, look at the big picture. Wesley Johnson and Dodie Dunson are only Freshman! Jiri and Mike Taylor, and Rashan Clark will be around next year and we've got a great class coming in. Hopefully we'll have a good point guard and power forward in the group and we'll improve. | | |

I'm not down on the players or McDermott. They have the right attitude, and they will pick up some more wins in the Big 12 this year.

I absloutely believe we are making great strides all around. I am pumped that we can be giant killers again or even giants. I am scared about Baylor though. They were up by 27 (or maybe more - I was watching but not paying great attention) over Colorado. What is the biggest lead we've had against another big 12 team?

Baylor has brought in some pretty good kids in the last 2 classes. They
have 5 4* and 4 3* players on their roster. They look like a good team the next 3-4 years.
I noticed they have an interesting football recruit, his name is
Singletary and he will play for Da Bears just like his daddy did.

Yeah, we are just way too thin to be consistent this season.

This season is a rebuilding season. We were told we'd have ups and downs and we're in a down period right now. We need a point guard and an inside presence.

No matter how much we are struggling, we shouldn't have lost to CU...that may be there only conference win of the season. They are horrible. And just because we typically struggle there is exactly the mindset that Jamie Pollard is trying to change. Status quo isn't good enough anymore.
That being said, everyone knew this was going to be a rough season. But I really think in the back of a lot of people's minds was a thought that GMac may pull out a miracle.

Baylor is not a bad team. They damn near beat Texas at Texas. They beat us last year as well. They have more talent on their roster than we do. It will take a VERY good effort to beat them.

The CU loss is easily the worst of the bunch, on the road or not.

I look for a struggle against Baylor, the Bears went out to Colorado and came home with a win.
This team needs to suck it up and win the rest of our home games,to get ready for next year!
Go Cyclones put the Bears back in hibernation!!!!!!!!!!
