Question on Derrick Russell......

I seem to remember that when he was being recruited that he wanted to try basketball as well. Did he decide to drop that whole idea and focus 100% on football. I know he was a pretty good H.S. reciever and is he in the hunt to see the field at all next year?

He got booted off the team last year. I'm not sure why...

Really? I remember thinking that the kid was like 6'4" or 6'5" and I thought he could be a real solid possession receiver.

He still goes to school here as far as I know. I have seen him a few times playing basketball at the rec.

He is a thief, had a stolen digital camera, bike, laptop, plus some stolen cash in his dorm. The reason I know...he stole the camera from a girl from my hometown. Definitely a guy with some problems.

Are you sure that was Russell? I thought that was Kellen White.

Russell was kicked off during the season by Mac. White was caught doing pretty much the same thing and was dismissed by Chizik.

Russell's problems didn't just start this past year. He wore out his welcome in high school during his junior year. He left Omaha and moved in with a host family in Lincoln to finish his senior year. There were major red flags, but Mac must have felt that he was worth the risk. Chizik won't always be right on every kid, but I expect him to use better judgement up front.
