Paid some rent that way. I was trying to get back into it a couple weeks ago and it said there is a new law banning real money games in the U.S. I don't like the play money games as the players rarely play realistic.

I was REALLY into in for the last 18 months but after the passage of the Internet Gaming Bill, 80% of the sites stopped allowing US Players on their tables.
Now with Neteller (the funding man) gone, it's going to be about impossible to keep playing. Not to mention I have a lot of money that I can't get to right now because of this.
I'd love to get into a home game. I'm tired of playing at Prairie Meadows.

| Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." |

Well, as you can tell by my avatar, I'm a poker player. I'm as disappointed as everyone else with the legislation to ban olnine gambling and hope that some sort of deal could be worked out.
If the government would just realize that poker is a game of skill, not luck, and start taxing winnings, they could turn this in to a win-win situation.
That being said, I played in the WSOP Circuit tournament on Moday in Council Bluffs. (please don't ask how I did)

The Monday tournament buy-in was $300 + $40.
The was 1 bracelet winner there (didn't catch his name), I had a guy at my table that had a 2nd place finish in WSOP event in Vegas last year.
Rodel Tuazon was there. (He's from DSM, played in the Mansion Poker Dome, I think he finished 11th.)
The main event for this circuit starts on Monday the 5th, with a buy-in of $5000 + $150.
Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Phil Ivey & Phil Gordon are going to be playing the main event.

I used to play regularly almost every day online. Used to play with my money too...until I went all-in with pocket cowboys after I flopped trips k's. I raised something like $50, this guy raises me another $50, I go all-in for like $90 more, he calls and gets runner, runner for a straight...called me with like a jack high. I just hate how you visually cant read your opponents at all, can still figure out betting tendencies, but as often as people get up and leave from tables, even that is difficult.
Did anyone ever play in the college poker championship through royal vegas? It was a freeroll tournament with like 15 weeks of qualifiers for semifinals, then the finals. Not a bad way to spend a few hours every sunday afternoon while watching football. Qualified for semifinals but could never make finals. Best finish in qualifer was like 3rd of 4800 I think. Anyone else have any luck in the tournament?

I think the government crackdown is hypocritical. I am hoping they will stop state run lotteries and state sponsored casinos too. (Prairie Meadows). Oh wait, they are making money on those! I am guessing the Vegas people will get to the right senators and congress people and we will have legalized online gaming in the next few years and big brother will sure get their share of it!

(please don't ask how I did) Taxes on gambling winnings are applied, I think it's after something like $1000, but I'm not sure on that number (someone in the know got that number). All I know is how can the government enforce something over the internet like that? I mean, you're supposed to claim everything you sell on e-bay as income, but who does that?

The number is $1200 for reporting gambling winnings. I know this because a year or two ago I was at meskwaki with my parents. I had lost my money in the poker room and my mom had lost hers at black jack so we were sitting playing the draw poker machines while my dad was still playing. She hit a progresive jackpot that was $1135 and right under the threshhold lol.
Anyway back to the online gambling, uncle sam wants his cut that is all this has to do with. He isn't getting income from the online gambling sites because non are based in the US.
I really hope something gets changed about it because I can't stand playing for free
