Boston Bomb Scare

Kinda suprised this has not been talked about here yet....

Here are some links with info:
Here is the 2 suspects news conference today

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/02/01/bos...are/index.html

There is another video in the cnn link first.

It is just kinda funny how brainless the authorities in Boston are. That after they discover the first one was not a bomb. That several hours later when 4 more are reported they take all these extreme actions against them.

OH NO IT'S A LITE BRITE RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!!!!!!

I seriously doubt that the city will recover the money they spent from time warner, or end up getting any charges against these two people either. They are just trying to save face by calling it a prank or a hoax when in reality the city made it out to be the panic it was. It wasn't a prank or a hoax just advertising for a movie that was coming out.

I love me some Aqua Teen, so I found this hilarious. I loved the attitudes of the guys when the reporters were trying to interview them - "We will only answer questions about hairdo's from the '70's." Hilarious - that is so Adult Swim/Williams Street.

I think Boston may be trying to save a lot of face here. They mention all of the other cities in which this was done, and nobody else had a problem with it. If they find that the marketing firm had approved it with the city, it seems like that's really the end of the story.

Boston is definately trying to save face with this situation. Out of the 5? cities that had these Lite Brites put up around the towns, Boston was the only one that had them called "bombs." I think the other cities were Seattle, NYC, Philly, and Portland maybe? I'm not sure. I think the CNN article talks about it though.

Yeah it was 10 different cites around the country and the fact that they have been up for 2 -3 weeks before they even got noticed as a possible bomb makes it even worse. Also there are plenty more videos about this on you tube as well one by zebro was particularly funny but due to language used in it I won't link it , incase people might click on it at work. But it is worth checking out

Re: Boston Bomb Scare

I haven't heard of anything going on around my apartment complex this weekend (other than the obvious Super Bowl party), I'm thinking of throwing an ATHF party. Burgers, fries, shakes, ATHF marathon, and some Boston crab.

For now though, here's some (non-work-I don't know if it's SFW) entertainment for everyone:

Re: Boston Bomb Scare

I remember Lite Brite, I didn't realize that it was an explosive device though. I guess it's a miracle I didn't kill myself. That said, the Boston authorities claim that like a dozen of these things were reported within a couple hours. If they were sitting around for several weeks, how is it they all get reported at once. Oh, and in all these other cities, no problems at all.

This has to be one of the biggest spins they are trying to pull:

Assistant Attorney General John Grossman called the light boards "bomb-like" devices and said that if they had been explosive they could have damaged transportation infrastructure in the city.

Bomb-like devices......... And if they had been bombs.....

What if all toys were bomb like device's...... And if they had been bombs...... think of the children

The whole thing is stupid, end to end.

Having lite brites flipping the bird is cool nowadays, huh?

They're bombs?

They're going to recoup money for lite brite demolition?

As I said, stupid end to end. But I guess that's the world we're living in now.

Shake: "Look Frylock...crabs! Can we keep them?"
Meatwad: "Boy there's a lot of them."
Carl: "Look, they're harmless. If they give you any trouble hit 'em with the shampoo."

The whole thing is ridiculous. I can understand that putting something strange on a bridge isn't the best idea and I can see why the police feel they shouldn't take any chances but the rest is such a complete overreaction. The fact those guys are getting charged with planting a "hoax device" is so stupid. If it doesn't look like a bomb, wasn't meant to look like a bomb, and you have no reason to think anyone would think it was a bomb can it really be a hoax?
