Register mistake...again.

I opened up the Register's sports section when I get into work this morning to see a nice little article on Jamie Pollard and the planned $19+ million renovations planned for JTS. It's on page 2 in the upper left hand corner titled "Report: $19.5M for work at Jack Trice".

The dateline to start the article: Iowa City, Ia.

I had a nice little chuckle this morning about that one.

Re: Register mistake...again.

I'm not saying you're mistaken cycloneworld, but it's possible the reporter could be in IC. For example, the regents may have an upcoming meeting in IC and she may cover it for the DMR and as a public body, the regents would have provided her with an advance copy of their meeting agenda and supporting materials.

If that's how it works, then I'm a moron. I just figured you would list the City where the story actually came from. I guess that's why I'm not a journalist...

Here is a quote from the article....

"The board meets Tuesday in Ames. Iowa State will seek final approval in June."

Weird it would come from Iowa City....or not.

Not quite sure how "having a nice little chuckle" equates to ******** & moaning?

If those two are synonomous, I wish some of my co-workers would ***** and moan more often......this might become an enjoyable place to work with all the laughter!

Agreed. I think i might be the only one on here who does not think the Register does a bad job, or thinks they are biased towards the Hawks. Since I have been living in Central Iowa, which has been 4 years, I think the register is one of the better papers I have vere read, and they are very fair on the two major college teams in this state.

Try reading the Omaha paper and the Kansas City paper. They cover the Cyclones better than the Register and both are several hours away.

Re: Register mistake...again.

I know this may need to be a separate thread, but I'm putting it here for now -----

In relation to the money being spent to upgrade JTC and to close the bowl, I'd like to remind everyone what a terrible scar ISU accepted as it's winning proposal to add buildings in front of Hilton.
<http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=46691&SPID=4256&DB_OEM_ID=10700&ATCLID=323399>
Hilton is a masterpiece, a building that stands on it's own. It's a tribute to the ancient temples that started sport and should not be covered up with large glass boxes that take away from that monumental approach to Hilton.
I understand the need for upgraded facilities, but this is not the answer, and I hope Pollard, Dean Morton (sp?), and everyone else realizes what ISU has and really comes through with better answers to this architectural question. This is unacceptable!!!

I'll second the Kansas City Star. The first post graduation city that my wife and I lived in was KC and they did an excellent job of covering the Clones. There were times that ISU was given more sports page coverage than Missouri was. Since I hate MU I always thought that was great. Anyone who has ever been to Kelly's Inn in Westport knows that KC loves the 'Clones and their fans.

I said a brat beef kielbasa hot smoked sausage cheddarwurst!

I love the Cy-ride bus stop sign up at the bar. And their giant 44-oz beers...

I long for the year our football team goes to KC and just puts a whoopin' on the representative from the South.

Then, our basketball team rolls in months later and cleans up the floor with everyone. Why bother calling it Hilton South? Lets own the damn place and call it...

Ames City.

And yes, the Register annoys me to the point where now I don't really bother getting too riled up over it.

As far as their sports coverage is concerned, you are correct, sir.
