-he's a huge turnover liability, he's always been known as a gunslinger, but his td/int ratio the past couple years has been less than idea
-he's not getting any better. he's on the downside of his career, at his age that just can't be avoided
-they aren't going to win anything significant with him ever again. The team is young and will need time to get back to the level that it once was. I don't think Favre has that long to stick around.
Just which of those thoughts is totally off base? I just think it would be better for both parties if he left. The Pack needs to move on and he needs to walk of the field while he can still remind everyone of the player he once was. Though I don't really like the Packers, so if he wants to go longer than he should and drag the team with him, I don't have a problem with it.

Go Bears! Give any QB in the league 17 years and play in that many consecutive games and show me their interception numbers. His interception numbers are purely showing how long he has played and in how many games.
Favre- 241 games
273 INT
Manning - if 241 games
on pace for 232 INTS
But what happens if Manning is on some bad teams eventually??? What happens with no Harrison or Wayne? Throw him out there with 3 rookie receivers, what happens?
And I just love this stat... 3 MVP's in 3 consecutive seasons! Please tell me who else has done that? I'll let a 3 time MVP play for my team until he is 50...

Go Bears! Fellow Packer Fans - this would be the initial post from my (board lurking) college roomy and best man at my wedding, as I was at his. Don't take it out too hard on him; he was a long-term Redskins fan until his wife "converted" him! Can you imagine that, foresaking YOUR team for a woman? I know you can't...
He's still sore about a Packer / Redskins MNF game in 1983 or thereabouts, which ended 48-47 when the 'Skins Mark Mosely missed a chip-shot FG as time expired! Awesome game, where Lynn Dickey and James Lofton out-dueled Joe Theisman and Art Monk. Then as always, Packers Rule!
Welcome aboard! It's inevitable that Brett will set the INT standard, but it'll pale in comparison to his TD record, yardage record, 3 - MVP Awards, Superbowl Ring and HOF Bust in Canton!

Your argument diminshes a bit when one considers that George Blanda played 340 games to set the record with 277 INTs. Of course, Favre could play another 99 games (oh, wait, that's something like six years, assuming the occasional playoff game) while throwing only three picks total, and then you'd have a valid point.
Regarding your MVP comment, it's really only 2.5 times, given the tie with Barry Sanders in 1997. One could argue that Otto Graham is worthy of consideration, what with the MVPs in 1947, 1948, 1951, and 1953. Not consecutive, of course, but there was no MVP awarded in the 1949, 1950, and 1952.
Keep Favre playing forever, and I'll keep winning money betting against him!

Amen fellow packer backer.
How many QB's have started for the bears and vikes since Favre started the consecutive games played streak? Like 30? The Bears alone had to have about 20 different QB during the last 16 years.
I read over 200 NFL quaterbacks have started on other teams (11 were backups to favre) during his 250+ consecutive games played stretch. I don't care what you think, he is a tough SOB and I will welcome him back with open arms.

In the state of Wisconsin, today has become a religious holiday.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I really would like to see Ted Thompson pull the trigger for Randy Moss, and with over $30 mil in cap space, it CAN happen.

I still hate his guts, but he's a hell of a player when he feels like it. Plus, it'd be nice for Brett to have more than Donald Driver and Robert 'stubbed my toe so put me on IR' Ferguson to throw to.

Honestly, it sort of reminds me of where ISU was with the football program this last season. Mac had been here for what seemed like forever, and he had done a lot of great things for us. But it was really quite obvious he wasn't going to make it any farther, and every year we put of the change was a year more until we could begin building for the future.
The Pack needs to send Favre packing. He is past his prime, and they have a very young team around him. They need a new qb to grow with that young team. They are never going to succeed on a high level before Favre really does hang it up, so every year he comes back is just another mediocre season and a wasted opportunity to get some experience for whoever will step in to replace him. So come on Packers, start playing for some championships again instead of letting some washed up has been keep taking victory laps. I truly do respect your opinion, I just don't happen to agree with it! Hey, I hated HOF'er Fran Tarkenton of the Vikings and used to make similar comments about him making way for touchdown Tommy Kramer. Anyway, here's where I disagree with your premise:
Paragraph 1: The team doesn't "let Brett come back" because they're living in the past; management recognizes that he gives the franchise the best opportunity to win now.
Paragraph 2: You compared Brett Favre to Dan McCarney! Favre won a Superbowl, 3 - NFL MVP awards and is a certain first ballot Hall of Fame inductee for goodness sake! McCarney won boobkas...
Paragraph 3: Favre's diminished playing ability is not what sent the Packers into a funk, and I'd submit that his "poor numbers" over the past several seasons are a result of his attempts to make something happen on an inferior team. I don't believe he's holding anybody's development back; Aaron Rodgers can sit and learn from Favre the same way that Phillip Rivers learned from sitting behind Drew Brees.
Grand Finale: I'm an admitted homer! I've gone thru the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth as he threw six INT's in the playoff game against the Rams, and I wanted to break my TV when he threw up the jumpball in OT against the Eagles in a playoff game! Even so, he's my favorite player and I'm thrilled that he's back for another season!

Can someone explain to me why Far-v is spelled Favre?
It's always been a mystery to me.

Osceola (Oh-see-oh-lah) vs. Osceola (Ah-see-oh-lah)
Nevada (Nuh-veh-duh) vs. Nevada (Nuh-vah-duh)
Hawkeye (Hawk-eye) vs. Arrogant piece of s*#t (Hawk-eye)

In his prime, he owned the Bears...thank god that's over. Hmmm, what was the score of that game to end this season? Something like 23-8?
Boom.....transfer the karma -

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."
