Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
Being a Clone fan I hate to admit it but Haluska is having a breakout year. In this day and age there are not many players that stick around for five years. How many of you think that like Haluska and having to sit out a year, that this could really be a big benefit for Thompson and help to improve is game ? I for one can't wait, and think the future will be bright for him.
Only four more hours until game time !
Go Bears !

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
I think a year off will help build strength and confidence for Alex. Adam has more natural ability and he reminds me alot of Bobby Hanson. I know a lot of us have thrown Adam under the bus, but he is a great player.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
Adam can flat out play. It was too bad he left after Larry left. I know alot of my friends who are Hawk fans talk about how he doesn't show up in big games or on the road. Looks like he played pretty darn well yesterday. I am certainly glad we don't have to see him again. I also hope Alex continues to improve and live up to the hype he had coming out of high school.

Anyone believe if Adam had stayed that Wayne would still be coaching?
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. -
Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
I for one don't think so. I think the reason Wayne got fired was the lack of team direction regardless of record. Based on the record alone he probably deserved another year.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
I totally agree conmebol. Last year sucked, but it's not like the guy had a bad overall record. The whole ridiculous D I scheduling "scandal", which was incredibly overhyped by that arrogant gasbag Gregg Doyel (who deserves to be set on fire) didn't help matters either.
Oh well....water under the bridge.....

Lets just say, while the last few years in basketball haven't exactly been fun - I'm glad we have Greg McDermott as our coach.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
Another question: Is Adam a NBA-caliber player?
To me he is a poster boy for a good college basketball player but he doesn't fit the mold of an NBA player. But maybe I'm wrong.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
According to Gary Dolphin, he's an all-American...oh wait, any Hawkeye player (bball or fball) who has a good game is an all-American.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
While i believe Haluska has talent, i think this is his breakout year because it has to be. He has stepped up in time of need. He carries this team im afraid.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
I think Morgan would still be coaching. He would have given another shooter for Jake to pass too, to go along with Homan and Vroman. The next year we would have been a little more deeper with him, allowing Clark to play the 3-4 off the bench, creating a 3 man rotation inside with Staple, Homan, and Clark. Last year, he would have made teams really shy to go to a zone on us. He is alot more of a scoring threat than John Neal. We probably would have won more games maybe done better in post season play.
I do however have no love lost for Adam leaving. I think we talk about the trade for Alex Thompson, but if you think about it...it was a 3 team trade. Adam Haluska goes to Iowa, we get Alex Thompson AND Greg McDermott, UNI gets Carlton Reed. <silly thought I know>
I think we can all agree that despite whatever feelings we have for Coach Morgan, good or bad, that our program is headed in the right direction and we have a good future for our program.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
Tough to say whether or not Haluska will be in the league next season or not. I thought a guy like J.J. Redick would be a solid outside threat in the NBA and look how much he's struggled. Although I do not think Haluska is in Redick's class by any means.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
I hate Haluska with every once of my heart for leaving ISU but he IS Iowa's entire team this year. Sure Smith is good but imagine if Haluska went down. They'd be screwed beyond belief. He's really, really good.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
Haluska will NOT be enough to take this Iowa ball club to appear in NCAA.

Re: Alex Thompson vs. Adam Haluska Comparison
yeah yeah yeah, Haluska is good....who gives a crap? He plays for Iowa and we already played that team. Screw the hawks, I couldn't care less about those homers. Go cyclones and go big 12.
