Re: Looks Like Stevie Alford is doing just enough.....
I love it, it just keeps happening every year. It looks like his seat is getting hot, and the team starts to slide, and then down the stretch the make a run in the conference tourney or pull out a couple upsets that nobody thought they could. Most teams would be jumping for joy as their team makes a miraculous run to salvage a bad season, but even the dimmest of Hawk fans realizes that Alford just bought himself another year. Lookin' forward to seeing you in Ames next year Steve. Here's to hoping you continue doing just enough not to get fired.
Hey Hawks, how's that next level treatin you? I know that trip the the NCAA Tourney every couple of years with a guaranteed first round win was really gettin old. Glad to see those days are dead and gone.

They just have to realize over there that this as good as it is going to get. I mean they had some nice runs under Lute and Dr tom but that was the past. Steve Alford is Hawkeye basketball. If they fire him who are they going to get to coach there, probably just a risky unproven coach or a coach that is looking to move on. They should really just be happy with the success that they have had under Alford. EIU needs to realize that this is as good as they can do. -

I totally agree. Alford has been great for them. They don't appreciate all he has done for them. He came from Indiana, you can't ask for anything more. They're lucky he's willing to stick around that program. They should pay him more money for the job he is doing. They can't afford to ever let him go!

Re: Looks Like Stevie Alford is doing just enough.....
The thing Alford did that keeps him in Iowa City was hire Craig Neal as assistant coach. Watch the huddle during time outs, Neal does the coaching. Against Indiana, Alford was out grandstanding, and Neal was making substitutions. Sooner or later someone is giong to notice and offer Neal a head coaching position. Minnesota? The one thing I don't understand is, "why did Tyler Smith choose Iowa when he had his choice of several better options?"
