W/L Outlook on Remaining Games
In the other thread I mentioned a win tonight really puts us in a nice position for the 8th seed in the Big 12 tourney. Right now we're 3-5 in conference play.
I look at our remaining schedule and place these assumptions... 3 almost sure losses @ Texas
@ Kansas State
@ Kansas
(3-8) 3 games we should win
Missouri
Colorado
@ Nebraska
(6-8)
2 games that could go either way
Oklahoma
Texas Tech
(8-8, 7-9 or 6-10)
I like the fact that we play most of the more winnable games at home - that should help us a lot.
What isn't very fun about our schedule is we play @ Texas, Oklahoma and @ K-State in consecutive games. Ahhh...typical ISU schedule - almost always getting the tougher games back-to-back.
So as you can see - an 8-8 season isn't out of the question. Now I'm not banking on it - yet it is possible. And such a record would likely put us in the NIT - with a 17-13 record.
And that would be nothing short of amazing.
EDIT - I modified the outlook to fall in line to where the majority sees the OU and KSU game landing...which is probably more accurate.

Re: W/L Outlook on Remaining Games
Why do you think home against Oklahoma is a sure loss and at Kansas State is an "either way?" I hate to tell you, but K-State is a much better team than Oklahoma; just ask Texas. I would just switch OU and K-State; I agree with the rest of your assessment, though.

Re: W/L Outlook on Remaining Games
I'm thinking that Oklahoma is more winnable than Kansas State on the road. KSU has proven themselves to be one of the best teams in the conference. I haven't been all that impressed with OU. I'd take us beating OU in Hilton before KSU at the Bram.

I agree... OU at home is a much more likely than at KSU.

Re: W/L Outlook on Remaining Games
I see your points fellas - I was editing my post to add my thoughts on that as you were responding.
Those games could easily be flip-flopped. I just looked at their whole body of work. K-State goes into Kansas and wins or takes them down to the wire and I'll agree 100% with ya.

Sorry about that CyinCo; I really like what K-State has. They may challenge KU for 2nd in the conference behind A&M.

Re: W/L Outlook on Remaining Games
I agree with the OK statements earlier...i believe that could be put in a go either way...but then I also think Mizzou should be put in that category as well, I mean by all means we shouldn't have been them in their house, we went crazy hot down the stretch, they packed up early, and wesley reaped the rewards with a 1.6 second left tip-in. We should def. beat Nebraska and Colorado (we already lost to CU tho, ugh). I think we had our shot at Kansas this year at Hilton and ALMOST got that one, I would be pleasantly surprised if we pulled out an upset at Phog.

Re: W/L Outlook on Remaining Games
I think we have a better shot at beating OU here than KSU on the road. and who knows what team will show up! The team that acted like a top 10 team against KU or the team that acted like 5 year old little dribblers against colorado

I agree. I would say at K-State is almost a for sure loss, and Oklahoma is a game that could go either way. I like the fact that we got Oklahoma and Texas Tech at home. We win those 2, and win the game you have listed that we "should" win, and we are looking at the 6th seed in the Big 12 tourney, and, as long as we don't loose first round there, an NIT birth!

Re: W/L Outlook on Remaining Games
Agree with Chuck-NIT is still a very possible and great goal for this team

Re: W/L Outlook on Remaining Games
8-8 in the Big 12 and 17-13 overall is very possible, I think we'll probably end up 7-9 and 16-14 and hopefully we get one win down in Oklahoma City at the Big 12 tournament. Like most of you, I think the NIT would be a huge success for this team. I'm really hoping that we do make it because every game this young team gets to play makes them better and better and post-season experience can go a long way in maturity.

Re: W/L Outlook on Remaining Games
Did everyone read the Rag article this morning? I like the fact that McD is looking at Seeding for the XII tourney. It shows he isn't willing to let this year just go by and be done. He is strategizing on where he wants to be seeded that gives his team the best chance to win more games and possibly the entire tourney. I like the no-quit attitude.

If this team gets hot, it'd be sweet to make another run in the NIT....I remember three years ago watching the NIT games as if they were NCAA games (maybe its because I'm a diehard)

I have not read it but listened to him in his post-game comments on the radio following the Baylor game. He was already talking about how tonight's game isn't important just in the sense of needing a win - but tie-breakers and seeding.
Greg, never leaving any stone unturned...no matter how small it may be.
We've got a winner ladies and gentlemen!
