Dead to you my friend...dead to you.
Dead to you my friend...dead to you.
Let me preface my comments by saying I have only seen two games on TV due to living in another part of the country.
Clearly, we have a shortage of talent on our squad. I think that was to be expected after the Morgan fiasco last year and many of our most talented players leaving. Just to clarify...I say good riddance to all of them.
I do believe that McDermott is a good X&O coach. I am hoping and praying that he can recruit quality athletes. Coaching is important but, make no mistake, in a sport like basketball where only 5 players play in a "free-flow" game it is important to have athletically gifted players. In fact, one guy can dramatically change a team. We have got to get some talent in quickly to upgrade our results (ie: win more games).
Hey, maybe the kid from Rock Valley will skip the rest of his HS career to go collegiate!!
We are definately missing Will and Farnold...
Mr. D was a good hire I am sure, but as an old alum, who has seen a great
deal of cardinal and gold games, I am sad about the state of our two main
programs. Football went in the tank. How many years will it take to turn it around? Basketball, the season is about over and the coach is still learning
about our team, whooo, plus the team we have showed no motivatin last night. He continues to talk about guard play, but against K State and Mis, who was killing us? No big bulkie, atheletic big man, a Mr. D type player.
and he has no one coming in of that stature, so until he recruits at least 2 big men ISU in my opinion will not be able to competein the Big 12, people
who can bang and rebound. Go Lady clones.
Hey guys and gals, don't expect us to win another game this year. That will save us all A LOT of grief!! We are out manned everywhere right now. Any win would be an upset for us. Let's just support our team, and pray next season comes soon.
Guys, we have two walk-ons getting minutes during important stretches of conference games...that should tell you something. Most of us knew this was coming (inconsistency, sloppy play etc) this year. Our point guard can't penetrate past the 3-point circle (or shoot), our 2-guard is pretty talented but out of control 90% of the time, Wesley is a stud but needs to take people off the dribble more, Rashon is great defensively but needs to dribble penetrate more, Hubalek is trying but, seriously for a Big 12 post is at least 20-25 lbs. underweight and has no athleticism at all. Gray and Marsden are creamy filling, CJ has alot of potential but isn't there yet. Add to that we are a horrible passing team and you get a 22 point loss to Missouri at home.
I think Mac is a hell of a coach, but last night I saw the first thing that truly baffled me: after an MU basket, why were we waiting to inbound the ball until Missouri could get their press set up? I turned off the TV I was so tired of watching it.
Frankly, Mariah, I expected more. Gone with the Wind.
Not sure why this stuff is a surprise to anyone. No one had any expectations going into the year, everyone was happy to have GMac and looking forward to the future. Suddenly, we win a couple games, play it close with Kansas and everyone thinks we will be in the Final 4.
We are playing now how I expected us to play all year. We are on the right track. GMac will bring in the talent and make the most out of those players who may not be the best. In 1-2 years we will be making headway in the tourney.
These are the days that hopefully (in the near future) we can all look back on and laugh.
Come away from the ledge everybody. We have a great coach and a team that plays hard but not smart at this point. Our great coach will get everybody playing smart too, but that doesn't happen overnight. Given an offseason of workouts and an infusion of new talent we will be just fine. Given more than that and we will be very good. Trust me, old habits die hard and it takes more than a few months to turn a player into a smart one. I have all the confidence in the world that Coach Mac will have these guys turned around by next year.
Wow....how can we continue to let this kid see the floor?
He makes Jon Neal look like an NBA player.
I agree he's too slow for this level....is it me or is blame our subpar season on something day today......we're simply just not a competitive D1 team right now!
