Re: Talent Level
I think it is funny how easily so many of us ISU "Fans" give up and turn our backs on our own team. This squad may not have the most talent in the Big XII but to say that they dont have heart and we only have one player that has the ability to play in the Big XII is rediculous. Last night was definately a letdown, but I think a lot of people are being way to harsh on this team. Jiri is having a great year compared to his previous, not to mention he has changed his style of play and really play down low for Gmac. To say Taylor doesnt have the talent to play in the Big XII is just stupid. We have all seen that he has the talent when he can just go off for points at any given time in the game... he just needs to learn when to shoot and when to pass. We can go down the roster and explain how each player can contribute but I think I'll just let thier performance of the Kansas game speak for itself. A team with only one or two Big XII talent players doesnt take Kansas to overtime. They have the talent, they just need to find a way to use it every game. I would like to see Dodie get more time in over Cmac, I really think he could contribute a lot more than Cmac gives us at this point. I'm not trying to flame on anyone but I just think a lot of people are being a little harsh on this team. Besides, I wouldnt completely assume that next years recruits are going to automatically fix all of our problems... Lets not forget our last 5star dud that we had. Hopefully Brackins can live up to the hype that we have all built for hime. *Knock on Wood* Hopefully ISU can go into Texas and at least have a good showing. Either way I still expect us to win one or two games, and maybe a suprise win somewhere.

Re: Talent Level
We have D1 talent because I've seen us play like a good D1 team. Against KU, we played to our potential and toed the line with a national title contending team. People are just trying to find some way to make excuses when again, it comes down to the fact that we're just not finding ways to put our talents together to make a competitive team.

What part of "rebuilding" aren't people understanding. This was expected to be this way this season. Heck, I'd even say next season will be marginally better. Year 3 of Gmac is where I EXPECT things to be better.
I've posted this before, but if you go look at GMac's coaching record, it took him until the 3rd year at his jobs to post a decent record. I don't see why it would be different this time. If anything, he had less to work with in his first year than ever.
Give it time.

could not agree more!! If we had won a couple more games this year, no one would think certain players shouldn't be on scholarship.....no one would think we don't have D1 talent....people are just frustrated we're losing and have to blame someone or something.....so far people have ragged on jiri, brock, taylor, ross, mcintosh, and a couple comments here and there about the rest....the only guy who has stayed out of CF bashing is wesley.......I myself get frustrated....but we gotta stay and support the team through the highs and lows....thats what the best fans in the country do!

Re: Talent Level
I'm shocked with all the negative posts today regarding the Mizzou game. Yeah, it was sad, but it wasn't the end of the world. God forbid a team could play bad, should I bring up the infamouse "Hampton" game? Good teams can play bad too.
I think everyone needs to realize we do not have an offense. We have players playing out of position and our guards can't handle a pressure D like Mizzou implements. Teams that are use to pressuring the ball are going to have great success against us. We just don't have the talent. That being said, we hang in there because of hustle and good coaching. We should have lost the game by 40 but we stuck around most of the game. I can't wait till we can have Wesley only playing the 3, C. Johnson playing the 4, a true point guard and good shooting guard and a big man. Which hopefully we will have next season. Can you imagine Wesley playing a 3 all the time. A 3 point threat, who can get offensive boards and play inside. I say the future is looking bright when we get the players to fill up our roster so no one will play out of position.

These guys need to face REAL competition in practice to feel the pressure to get better. We'll have more of that next year. What is wrong with Jiri. Not only is he the only post player on offense that can do anything, he is also our best post defense player. He will be one of the players that will help bring Iowa State any success next year.
