Talent Level
Other than Wesley Johnson, please convince me we have enough D1 players to compete next year. We have way too many players that are absolutely out of their league.
That was a dreadful performance on our home floor!!! Possibly the worst I've seen in 5-10 years and Missouri is not that good of a team.
I'm going to live on some hope that next years freshman talent will be a different level. I hope.

Re: Talent Level
This shouldn't be a surprise? We knew that going into the season.

Re: Talent Level
Tonight's loss went beyond talent level. Mizzou might have less talent than ISU. This ISU team lacks toughness and pride more than anything else. It was a collective effort amongst players, coaches, and fans.

Re: Talent Level
This one can't be blamed on talent. Who does Mizzou have that's any good? If you combined the two teams you might have one that could compete.

Re: Talent Level
Oh cripes. What a bunch of sour grapes.
Has everybody forgotten last season, all the defections, and the short roster GMac inherited?
GMac said at the beginning of season that there would be good games(like the Kansas game!), and bad ones. It's the sign of a young inexperienced team which is exactly what we have.

We need guys who aren't afraid to stick their nose in there and grab the loose balls. We need guys who won't get backed down all the way under the basket when playing defense. We need guys who are strong enough to finish when they have the ball within a few feet of the basket.
We won't see the NCAA tournament again until we find those guys. How long will that take?

I'm going to live on some hope that next years freshman talent will be a different level. I hope. Be comforted, my friend, for we will not be seeing any Brock Jacobson next year (unless it's mop-up time). We will also see less of Jiri Hubalek and Corey McIntosh. Oh, and when Mike Taylor gets inconceivably out of control, we'll have the depth to bench him and teach him his lesson.
These guys need to face REAL competition in practice to feel the pressure to get better. We'll have more of that next year.

Re: Talent Level
Oh dear God. These are the same people that after a 2-0 start thought that we could go to the tournament.
It takes time people, as you will see this Fall. Stuff that was as broken as our basketball team, and is as broken as our football team takes TIME to fix. None of the other new coaches in the league had to START COMPLETELY OVER like Greg did. In some respects that is good because he can build the program in his image, but at the start, you are going to have ugly nights like this.

Re: Talent Level
We don't have a lot of depth and size. Granted players like McIntosh and Dunson are probably just role players off the bench we have to work with the cards we have right now. Mike Taylor is having to handle the ball a lot more than he should (reminds me of the first year we had Mike Nurse) and Wesley and Clark have had to play in the post more than they should. We all knew coming into this season it could be rough...

Re: Talent Level
We look like we are still playing non conference baskeball. We are not mentally tough. We will get killed on the road unless we get some lobotomies. The talent is there but we still have to step it up to conference intensity. The second half looked like Nebraska and Kansas 41-8 surge. If we lost this game, you can cancel the NIT. Do the players know that? Do they? McD better set some parameters with Mike like he must opass the ball once before he ius allowed to shoot. That is what Doc Sadler did and they have now won two road games.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

With each win, we're headed to post-season play. With each loss, we search for cliffs and ponder if we'll be able to field a team next year.
Ride the roller-coaster, baby!

. And I thought it was just me. Funny how just one game can change perspective or some people.

but that is what you get when a coach gets hired in April, 3 schollies short, and maybe on probaition for NCAA violations....
patience my friend.....it is a work in progress

Re: Talent Level
Hilton Magic has been dead for years. If you believe otherwise you haven't been paying attention. There's no magic cure coming in next year either. It will be a long, tough process to even get back to mediocrity.
