Losing to Mizzu was simple...
They came out ready to play, we didn't. I was concerned about their motivation after our win at their place and it showed - they wanted it more.
They hustled on every possession, it was blatantly obvious our hustle wasn't there. Plus, they got the bounces - nearly all of them.
34-8. That's the points-in-the paint difference. Guess who won that battle? Not a hard one - Mizzu. It wasn't Jiri's night and Cory is just not ready for Big 12 competition.
67%. That's the shooting percentage for Mizzu in the 2nd half.
9. That's how many 2-point shots we made in the whole game. We made one more 3-point basket than we did 2-pointers.

I will just assume for my own mental health that our coaching staff beat this into the team's head immediately following the Baylor game ...

What do you consider a butt-whoopin then? We just lost by 22 at home and got dominated in every phase of the game you can imagine.

honestly, and I mean this with a ton of respect - is McD the guy to get it done? I just can't believe this happened at Hilton. Please, no neg rep, it is simply a question out of frustration.....

I'd rather lose to a conference rival at home than to EA Sports.

The game really got away from us because we had to start shooting earlier in the shot clock. The blown layup by MT followed by a fastbreak bucket by them was the beginning of the end.

It was a butt whipping to prove we are now the worst team in the Big 12. Colorado is better. So is Nebraska. There are no excuses for losing to Missouri at home. We stink. We do not think very well on the court. That is the surprise. We pass shabbily. We are going nowhere fast. Play Curry and Caesar. They care more and they think.

Re: Losing to Mizzu was simple...
I thought our effort was fine in the first half. For whatever reason, it completely fell apart in the second half.
The play of the game was Mike Anderson calling a timeout when we got it to 39-36 and the crowd got into it for the first time. They came out of that timeout going on an 11-0 run, and McDermott couldn't use a timeout because we had used 3 in the first half.

All in all this was a pretty poor effort by ISU tonight. There is still a lot of work to do with this team. I am hoping that McDermott is the guy, only time will tell.

Re: Losing to Mizzu was simple...
There is no excuse to play the way we played tonight. No hustle on either end of the court. very poor defense, they shot like 52% for the game and someone mentioned 67% in the second half. Missouri wanted this more than we did and it showed. They deserved the win tonight. Pollard should refund peoples money for everyone who attended tonight, cause it wasn't much of a game. It wouldn't cost very much cause it was a real small crowd. I miss the days of a jam packed Hilton and SRO.

That is a good question. He does not appear to have this team passing the ball very well, dribbling smart. Now, if they quit hustling at home, we look like a Div 2 team. Thought the A&M game was the bottom point for this group. Guess not. They are getting worse as time goes on as a team. This is exactly what happened to the Stinson team with some of the same players. Since we lack shooting prowess, all we have left is to play smart or to hustle more. That is why we have rebounded so well until the second half. They ate our lunch rebounding the second half. Real sad effort. No negative rep please - this is what I see. I expected McD to have his team ffine tuned by now whether we had talent or not.

Re: Losing to Mizzu was simple...
I'm disappointed because this isn't the type of basketball i prepared myself for. I was EXPECTING to see discplined basketball this year. I'm not doubting McD is a good coach, I just haven't seen as much improvement as i had hoped!
