Jessan Gray is nonexistant after having a decent nonconference performance. I think our rotation should be Dunson, Taylor, Johnson, Johnson, Hubalek, Clark, McIntosh (off the bench only to get Dodie or Mike a short breather), Ceaser, Gray (same as McIntosh). The thing is, we have a lot of guys that are not there. We knew that going into this year - so it's no surprise to see them having difficulties - especially in conference play.
If we didn't play the guys that weren't up to par, we'd barely have a starting 5.
Greg spoke that he needed to get guys more rest, especially Wesley and Mike. They're in the game way too long right now and it's affecting their play. Veterans like Curtis and Will could handle that much better than a new JUCO and freshman.
Greg said he needs to do a better job using his bench in order to get these guys rest and may need to do it whether the game allows for it or not. It's not like we have a week off between each game. Mike and Wesley - even Clark to an extent - are starting to get fatigued.

Re: Substitutions
To ISU fan22, If you have a pretty good idea what Gmac is trying to accomplish, maybe you should apply for a job on his staff. My guess is, that you got cut from your JV basketball team as a senior and think you know it all. Bro you have posted 4507 times, check yourself homie!!! Anyway I do enjoy reading this board and appreciate the info you guys give me. Troy Santa Rosa, California

Re: Substitutions
What's great is almost every Monday night, Greg is available for questions on the call-in show. If you have a question for him or are puzzled about something - I suggest you call in. He's been great at answering these questions so far, I can't see why that would change.
I am repeating what he said tonight in his post-game comments - and only the parts I can remember.

I 'spose I could bring up the fact you're out in CA - virtually disconnected from the program. But that really doesn't matter - as on an internet message board - I like reading all opinions. I won't agree with all of them and will comment on 'em - but I like reading them just the same. Whether you've got 2 posts or 2000...or if you live in Ames or Alaska.
Maybe you could try to actually discuss and debate the words on the screen rather than the person. That would be a novel concept.
And FWIW, I wrestled in high school. And I'm not your "homie".

McDermott is the right choice for ISU but "22" needs to learn head coaches will always be questioned after losing games they can win.

Re: Substitutions
22 has a mancrush on McDermott. Good coaches make mistakes too buddy. It's okay to question a coach. Like I said, I think McDermott is the guy for the job but that doesn't mean he isn't open to criticism.

He lost me after the Texas Tech game in which that team attempted to hand us a win and we threw it right back at them time and time again. Plus, he should've punted on the first play of every possession - as it clearly was our best offensive play.
I have yet to see anything even remotely close to a foolish coaching move from Greg McDermott. Is he perfect? Of course not. I've yet to meet anyone that's perfect. He makes mistakes...he's gone on record to admitting a few of them.
The man leaves no stone unturned - regardless of how small it is. How many wins do we have under Morgan? Jeter? Heck...why not Alford?
No, none of us would know what these coaches could do with this team. Yet would you take any of them over Greg? Not a reason to give him a pass, yet a little perspective could be in order here.
New players, new coach, new system. I expect us to have our fair share of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde moments. Tonight was another one of 'em. And I'm betting they'll continue to become fewer and fewer as time goes on.

Re: Substitutions
You wrestled in high school? Congrats, I am a mixed martial artists and am 7-1 so if you are challenging me lets have at it. My intention was not to fight but obviously by you throwing out the fact that you wrestled you are trying to intimidate me. I am a pretty easy going guy, and and was just having fun with you, but if you have a problem with me let me know and we can figure it out. I will be out there for the ISU/IOWA football game in Sepember. My name is Troy what is yours. P.S I know this is childish, but HOMIE challenged me.

You assumed I played ball in high school, making assumptions I'm angry I got cut or some crap. I clarified I wrestled. And now I challenged you?
Well, by all means - lets take this e-squabble to the playground. Meet at the bike rack at...say...high noon?
Opinionated I am. A strong believer in my views - you bet.
But someone that challenges others to a physical dual on the internet? Please....

Re: Substitutions
At what point did you feel it was necessary to say that you wrestled in high school? Did you think that because I knew you wrestled I would not challenge you in regards to your thoughts on ISU athletics? My intentions were not to take it there, but you for some reason, tried to challenge me. HOMIE I would whoop that *** in 30 seconds. I am not a bad guy, and appolgize to everyone that is reading this garbage but please dont challenge me. Bottomline, GO ISU, and if you want to comment further I wont respond unless you state your name and city!!! Troy, Santa Rosa, Ca

Re: Substitutions
I think ISUFan22 was just saying he wasn't a basketball player... but instead a wrestler and it's an example that shows he doesn't claim to know everything about basketball. But really, I don't think he intended to challenge you troyl...
let's all try to keep this a Cyclone Thread and not a member dispute thread!
This is my sarcasm pirate. There are many like it but this one is mine. -
Re: Substitutions
Well said dbronco, however how in the hell would wrestling be brought up when we are talking basketball? If anyone has half a brain, they could assume that he was using his wrestling background as an intimidation factor. Unfortunately for him he is going to get punked as he picked the wrong guy. Thanks again for your reply dbronco, I dont want to make any enemies, as I enjoy this board, but at the same time ISU22 is not going to pop off and get away with it.

Re: Substitutions
Have we not clarified this already. You assumed I played basketball and was cut. I informed you I wrestled. You went on a tirade.
I don't challenge people to silly physical duals. I find "throwing down" online to be one of the more childish and cowardly things a person can do.
Calm down...as dbronco said - lets discuss ISU.
