Re: ESPN U Breakdown of Recruiting

Re: ESPN U Breakdown of Recruiting
Nat. Rank Total ESPN 150 JC
7 Texas 25 12 0
19 Oklahoma 17 1 2
28 Texas A&M 20 3 1
33 Nebraska 28 0 6
36 Oklahoma State 23 2 1
45 Missouri 28 1 7
55 Kansas State 34 0 8
58 Baylor 31 0 6
62 Colorado 28 2 4
74 Texas Tech 27 0 5
87 Kansas 23 0 4
91 Iowa State 21 0 11
Formatting looked good in the post box... sorry. 1st number is # of recruits. Then # of ESPN Top 150. Then # of JC.

Re: ESPN U Breakdown of Recruiting
All this really shows is ranking based on top ESPN's top 150 recruits? Then the ranking looks to be based on total number of recruits.
So Missouri get's rated in the middle with 1 top 150 recruit. Woo hoo!
We're only at the bottem because we had no top 150 and the smallest number of total recruits. What confuses me is how did Nebraska get ranked 4th with no top 150 recruits or is that a mistake?
It's interesting how few top 150's everybody got. Lord OU only got 1!
We're king of the hill for Juco's!

ESPN is not a good source for football "predictions".
They cater to the big markets, because it brings them hits on their site and ratings on their broadcasts.

Two times out of 12. I guess twice is multiple. But ISU also got their teeth kicked in more often than not with these lower rank recruiting classes.
The game still has to be played. But on average a higher ranked team usually will finish out the year in better shape. Yes, rankings are not absolute but don't kid yourselfs THEY MATTER. There is a correlation with wins.

There is a correlation with wins. There is a correlation with wins at the top end-USC, Florida, Texas, etc. Once you get past about the top 10 or 15 in the class as a whole it is a crap shoot-look at Iowa, they had that 'great' class a few years ago and they proceeded to have a losing record this year.
Anymore many of the four or five star recruits are egomaniacs and only care about themselves: Ryan Perriloux from LSU and Willie Williams from "da U" come to mind. I will gladly take one and two star ranked players like Blythe and Meyer who want to play in a team environment over players that want to be pampered.
I am very encouraged by GC-to pull together a staff and a good class in less than three months speaks to his work ethic and his desire to win. Big 12 be warned: there's a storm brewing on the horizon...

In the future I could see us getting up there on the list in the North, but we aren't going to be stealing very many guys from the big schools down south. Nebraska is the only school who can crack the top half of the big 12 recruiting list.
The rest of the north teams just get the crumbs from the state of texas anyway.
Texas University doesn't recruit, they select....recruiting guru on mediacom cable

Re: ESPN U Breakdown of Recruiting
Rivals had our class as #54 in the nation. Not too bad for Chizik's short timeline. That's probably about an average to a little worse than average of Mac's typical class. Not bad for having less than 1/2 the time of other schools.

Re: ESPN U Breakdown of Recruiting
ESPN's recruiting strategy is this:
If a player goes to USC, Ohio State, etc. they must be really good.
If a player goes to Iowa state they must not be good enough to go to USC, Ohio State etc.
They really don't do a bunch of analysis like scout and rivals do.

1. Rivals
2. Scout
3. ESPN
4. EIU fans
Clones have 20% of new jucos in Big 12. 11 out of 55.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: ESPN U Breakdown of Recruiting
Any class with that many jucos will be frowned upon by most analysts.
But cheer up folks, Chizik and staff know exactly what they're doing.

Re: ESPN U Breakdown of Recruiting
I'm going to withhold judgement until I see how we play in the first few games this fall. I just hope were not putting Chiz to far up on a pedestal this early in his head coaching career. We all had our hopes sky high last year about our offense and defense. It hurt like hell when it all came tumbling down. Steady as she goes fellas.
