Any lip readers out there?
I'm a little late on this one, but just remembered...
In the Mizzou game, when Jessan Gray first came in, he proceeded to throw a bad pass that led to a MU fast break. In the ensuing timeout, the broadcast showed an obviously angry Mac talking to him. I caught the last part of his comment, "...you'll never play again." Anyone know any more on this? Do these two have a history of some tension? Was Mac just being hard on the guy? It seemed a little out of place for Mac, as usually he is shown as the teacher/educator coach. Maybe he is expecting more out of a senior and believes the teaching phase should be over by this time of the season.

Re: Any lip readers out there?
Not a lip reader here, but it's obvious McDermott doesn't like his big guys to play soft. And Jessan Gray is soft. It seems like every time he rebounds the ball it gets stripped from his hands, or he just gets pushed around underneath.

Re: Any lip readers out there?
Gray turned the ball over after he had picked up his dribble out front. McDermott told him that if he did that one more time he would never @#$%$#@ play again. Rightfully so, in my mind, a senior should not be making those kind of mistakes.

Re: Any lip readers out there?
I remember the play but didn't see the huddle or conversation you talk about, but I would think that if he ended sentence like that, the start of the talk was probably "If you keep playing like.....(fill in the blank)...., then you will never play again." and not Coach Mac having a grudge against Gray and telling him that after one bad play.
Hopefully the rumour isn't getting started that Coach Mac doesn't like someone based on someone else reading into only part of a conversation and not knowing what was said or communicated beforehand.

My intention wasn't to rumor-monger. I was just curious as to what may have preceded this exchange. I think Mac seems like a firm and fair coach; that's why I found this a bit harsh.
I was thinking of Mac's discipline in terms of my 2 year old and 5 year old: Don't threaten unless you are prepared to follow through! I was wondering what would happen if Jessan went right back out there and turned it over again.

If you don't back up your talk with the walk, you soon have a fiasco.
I think Coach Mac is a great mentor and educational coach, but watching him interact with Hubalek gives me the impression that him coaching and teaching is calm until you do something wrong repeatedly and then he goes ballistic on their hineys. He seems to have handled Hubalek that way anyway and look how he has turned around this year.

I saw that too. It was after Gray called a timeout after getting trapped in the corner. My impression was McDermott didn't like him wasting a timeout when he could have squared up and passed the ball out of the trap.

Does McD hand out TOs in the corner? Sounds like it. Just hope we see some crisp passing in the future.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Kramer: "You want me to sleep with you?"
Todd: I don't want to sweep alone.
Kramer: He says "I don't want to sleep alone." She says, oh boy, "love to."
Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.
