The ink is barley dry on McKnight's LOI and USC is looking into potential rules violations during his recruitment and big surprise, Reggie Bush is involved. Even if nothing happened, with the Bush fiasco, you would think that USC would see to it that all their i's are dotted and t's are crossed. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?s...v=ap&type=lgns McKnight signed a national letter of intent with USC on Wednesday and made comments during a news conference that seemed to suggest communications involving former Trojan Reggie Bush, who is now with the New Orleans Saints.
Former players are forbidden from telephoning prospective recruits, their relatives or guardians. | | |

I don't know how they are gonna prove Bush did anything illegal on this one, but I will agree things at USC are really fishy...that haven been said I'd still rather have Pete Carroll (3rd highest paid coach in CFB) than kirk ferentz (2nd highest paid coach in CFB behind only Bob Stoops at OU). lol
The thing that sucks about the system in all of this is nothing that bad can happen to the player...if allegations against Bush come to be found true, then worst thing for him is they take away his heisman, he still gets paid a ton of money to play for the Saints in the NFL, whoopty-doo...but the university will be the ones hurt...I didn't like what happened to Michigan, being put on probation for things guys did earlier (The Fab-Five)...Webber and those guys were never hurt by that. as much as I don't like USC, i will say it sucks for the future players if they weren't able to compete or compete in a bowl game bcuz of what former players did.

How USC hasn't been put under some serious NCAA sanctions is a joke. You have Jarrett getting his rent payed for which is a violation. Bush getting thousands of dollars, and now McKnight. That is what we KNOW about. I guarantee you there is so much more cheating going on there. Anyone that cheers for USC and Cheating Carroll is not a true college football fan IMO!!

I would venture a guess that nearly every school in the NCAA is breaking some rules. It's nearly impossible not to...the rule book is two feet thich with 8 point print.
The real question in "cheating" is whether it is premeditated and systemic or not.
Frankly, from what I've read about the USC situations there have only been accusations that outside sources gave help without university knowledge.
For example, it was learned that Matt Leinert's father was paying rent for his son and a teammate. So they made the teammate reimburse Leinert's dad. In my opinion this is ridiculous.
The McKnight situation is different. He let it slip that he had talked to Reggie Bush. Ex-athletes are not supposed to talk to recruits. Well, we don't know who initiated the conversation. Rumor down here is that McKnight called Bush to ask him what it was like at SC (which seems pretty logical...someone making a decision trying to get as many facts as he can)...not that Bush called McKnight to "recruit" him. As for USC and Pete Carroll asking Bush to do this...I don't think so. In fact USC would not even allow Bush on the sidelines at this year's Rose Bowl (and they love having their ex-studs on the sidelines at games) due to the ongoing investigation of Bush's family getting "assistance" from outside sources while he was at SC.
I'm no SC lover but I don't think they have a guy in Pete Carroll that is running a "dirty" program.
