Re: Isu Outspends Iowa on recruiting

ISU needs to spend more because we have to look harder in a lot of sports. Until things change, the kids are not lining up to come to ISU. Hopefully the work of the administration and coaches will change that.

Re: Isu Outspends Iowa on recruiting

Sometimes when governmental organizations prepare reports like this not everybody categorizes their costs the same.

I see where ISU listed $852,000 for recruiting and Iowa $762,000.

Iowa has a athletic support staff cost of $9,000,000 where as ISU is $4,900,000. Do you suppose some of that $4,100,000 difference is spent by people working on recruiting.

One other thing about the report really stands out. Iowa spends $4,995,000 on team travel (all sports). ISU spends $1,618,000. We have approxomately the same number of teams and the same travel distances. I guess they must really go first class.

The one is obviously Coach Fitch

Re: Isu Outspends Iowa on recruiting

Like most things associated wit the UoI, their recruiting class is overated. Can someone refresh my memory- didn't UI have top 25 classes two and three years ago? And they finish last year with a losing record. Over-rated classes or just poor coaching?

Hey Hawkfan......Oh nevermind it would go over your head. I was going to say something to the effect that the money spent is going to go a long ways towards how good the classes will be when Gene has more than TWO months to put a class together. But as a typical Hawk fan he wouldn't understand.

Obviously it is the lack of a Clone baseball team that makes the difference. How can they spend $5.0M travelling (Alamo Bowl?) when the coaches only have a $50 per diem. I did not know you can get a room for $50 in some towns.

Someone must be cooking the EIU books. How much do all those Lexuses cost that Alford rear ended. Or were those freebies?

But it still does not make total sense UI has more sports than ISU.

Something is fishy. Either McC was going to Florida too much or Kirk had people visiting him. Did they count staff moving expenses also?
