I remember what a big splash it was when he signed with us. Everybody was talking about how he and Taggert were going to be a great pair of players for us for years to come. Oh well..... This is why I don't get too excited about recruits/commits. No offense to those who do. Personally, I just like to wait until I see them on the court...*cough* Wesley Johnson! *cough*

I agree SeattleClone, I would take a bullet for Wesley Johnson. In the chest even.

Saw an article in the Associated Press that Theo Davis, a former ISU commit, was arrested along with a teammate from his new school- Gonzaga.
I remember following the recruitment of this kid while Wayne Morgan was coach, I thought he was going to the NBA- propbably a good thing we didn't get him. Anyone else remember this kid?

If I remember correctly, Theo Davis actually played in the Capital City League in West Des Moines in the summer of '05, but was ineligible academically, so he never played at ISU. And then Morgan chose not to re-recruit him.

He had trouble with his transcripts since he was playing HS in Canada and the NCAA Clearinghouse rejected his admission.
Gonzaga lost a really good player in the other dude. 15.5 points and 7.7 rebs per game.

I thought he was a former recruit. I was watching basketball yesterday and saw that name scroll across. Wow, that will be interesting to see what happens.

This might have been posted already, but I just cames across this article. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't we pretty close to getting this guy if his grades were better? http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news;_...v=ap&type=lgns |

I think this is about the 5th or 6th thread about it.
But yes he was a verbal to Wayne and didn't qualify through the NCAA clearinghouse because he was coming from Canada.
He has yet to play one minute of college basketball...and now he may never see the floor.

His grades were fine, but he is Canadian, and some of his classes did not trasfer thru as college prep, so he was not cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse, he had to do another year of Prep School, and ended up at Gonzaga, not sure how many schools he has been tied with ,I can think of three, Texas, ISU and the Zags, looks like another Justin Holt, or Jerome Harper, great talent, but may never get a chance to play anywhere.
