Wow.....

UNI is officially done as of tonight. We certainly don't help their RPI.

Re: Wow.....

Imagine how bad they are going to be next year. I think they lose Coleman and Stout. UNI fans are probably sick they lost Gmac, now that they realize how good of a coach he was.

Re: Wow.....

I think we are seeing the difference between a good coach and someone that takes over for a good coach. Jacobsen was okay early in the year when no one knew for sure what he was going to do with his team. Now that everyone has seen his version of the Panthers, they know what to expect. A good coach is alway developing what his team does. He never has a lot of things that opposing teams can zero in on as weaknesses. I still think GMac was a great hire, he just needs a couple years to recruit the guys he want into the program.

Re: Wow.....

I remember when I was at the CA road trip to UNI, some of the other CA fans were going back and forth with a UNI fan and his (wife?). I personally don't believe in talking trash (unless it's Iowa), but I remember she made some smart-aleck comment to me once the game was guaranteed to UNI and we were still cheering hard.

"You won't be cheering when we're in the NCAA tournament and you don't even make the NIT"

Wrong on two counts (hopefully on all three).

I was watching the Florida vs Kentucky game and haven't heard anything about UNI. Who'd they play and how bad did they get beat?

Colorado coach Gary Barnett "I thought we had a pretty good mascot, but when we showed up at Iowa State, they had a real tornado. That's the real deal." November 12, 2005

They lost 58-62 to Missouri St. in Cedar Falls. They now have a three-game road stint at Creighton, Nevada, and Bradley before finishing up at home against Illinois St.

Re: Wow.....

Yeah, with that road slate, they are toast.

I doubt they sell near as many tickets next year. They'll limp into the NIT while we're at home, but at least we know we're about as bad as we can get.

Re: Wow.....

GMac was a fantastic hire, but again, UNI's issue isn't how much they miss a great coach like McDermott or how much Jacobsen doesn't measure up in his place. UNI is realizing just how important guards like Ben Jacobsen and Erik Crawford were to their team. It's very difficult to replace talented, upperclassmen guards (something ISU fans should be acutely aware of; especially this season). I'm pretty sure UNI would be struggling just as much under McDermott as they are under Jacobsen. It's not a coaching issue, it's a lack of talent and experience in the backcourt.

UNI, DRake, Iowa State and iowa lost. Not a good day.

Re: Wow.....

McKowen scored 27 against us. Hasn't been above 18 in any other game this year.
