Blogs connected to Utah football are reporting that Chizik is set to hire Jay Boulware away from the Utah staff. He looks to be another solid hire with major program experience and recruiting ties to Texas.

who is penciled as the special teams coach right now? might coach boulware fill this position also?

I would think this coach has California recruiting connections also, one of the Big Three states for prospects. Utah and Stanford recruit heavily in California.

cyclones.com doesnt have anyone listed as a special teams coach. coach koonz is listed just as an assistant. i wonder if boulware will coach rb's and special teams.

I want to know what Koonz is going to coach, he is penciled as an offensive assistant, I would say this move puts him on defense instead, we only have 3 defensive guys, whereas with Boulware now we would have six offensive assistants, a little uneven I would say!

seems like the best hire other than Chizik himself, a lot of big time experience at least big conferences, and he is from Texas, so I would say this is a great get!

koonz coached D at texas. i hope this move puts him back there too. i wanted him on defense all along.

Jay Boulware also interviewed at New Mexico with Rocky Long.........Long needs and coordinator and coach and has always been impressed with Boulware. He turned New Mexico down for ISU, appparently he was talking to Chizik while interview was happening here. An assistant for New Mexico lives on my street and visits me alot. This is a great hire for us..........this guy can recurit and coach............

Koonze is defense. Some one was introduced as coaching special teams at the gridiron club last week...just trying to remember who it was...

Went back and looked at coaches and I am pretty sure it was Scott Fountain..tight ends coach who was introduced as also coaching special teams Wed. at the Gridiron Club function.
