Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
I try to watch the NBA, have plenty to NBA option to choose from (T-Wolves, Bulls, NBA TV), etc. Normally watch for a while, then like everything else, eventually lose interest in it and move on.
I get so tired of the money aspect of it. Professional atheletes are just like any other entertainer out there with God given talent, yet no one complains when in the final seasons of Friends, each cast member was paid over a $1,000,000 per eposide, over the course of 20 plus eposides in a given season, thorw in endorsements, movies, etc., yet no one says a word.

I said that I didn't like it and that I'm not alone in not liking it because others are disinterested too. Not that I didn't like it because others don't like it but thanks for putting me in the unoriginal category before reading the whole story.

Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
You were wrong about the ratings. There is at least one poster on here that doens't like the NFL (though I still don't believe it), so its not the most uncommon of opinions, but don't blame the ratings or the attendance because both are up.

In the old school NBA vs. New school NBA ratings are most definitely not up. They may be up from a few years ago but they didn't have anywhere to go when finals games are getting 6.5 ratings.

Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
I think that the abundance of channels on TV now will distort your numbers. Viewers now have MANY more choices of what to watch, so those ratings get spread over everything. Of course, that is my opinion with absolutely no facts to back me up...

There are hundreds of channels now where as in the early 90's most people didn't have cable. Those numbers just don't add up

Those numbers just don't add up Well the numbers have to add up because those are the actual ratings. Now there may be factors why those numbers are what they are, but the fact of the matter is that not nearly as many people are watching the NBA as they used to (for whatever reason).
Also, I'm pretty sure most people had cable in the late 1990s.
So when people are given more channel options, they have chosen to watch something else instead of the NBA playoffs.

Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
And those ratings are for the NBA Finals...I can't imagine what they are for a regular season game.

Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
Well, if you can prove to me that something like the ratings of the World Series has gone UP from the 70's, 80's or 90's, then your argument might be more believable. I'm just saying that if the Cartoon Network would have been available in the 1980's, I would have definitely watched that instead of the World Series.

Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
Read my post I didn't say late 90's, I said early and no maybe 25 percent of people in the US had more than 30 channels than. Not much else to watch other than Jordan beating up on below average teams. I just think it is ridiculous when people say that the NBA is not as fun to watch since the 90's. There are 6 good teams this year as opposed to 2 back than. More than one dominant player to.
Watch a game the Spurs play and tell me if there is no D!
Watch a game that Kobe plays in and tell me they don't play hard!
When you complain after a fight in the NBA and say it is just a bunch of thugs, think about the fights in baseball where a guy charges a mound. People love those but a fight in basketball is horrible. The Dodgers guy throws a chair in the crowd and gets nothing like Artest did for running into the stands. Why is that I ask?!?!

There is a complete double standard when it comes to the NBA. Baseball, Hockey and Football all consider fights to be "part of the game". Baseball allows teams to clear dugouts - which is a highly premeditated event, and it is viewed in awe. Hockey, well that pool of blood under the guys head on Sportscenter last night says it all. Football players are alway fighting and very few result in even a flag - yet NBA player get held to this incredibly high standard. Why?
IMHO Baseball should be the one sport that disgraces players for fighting - there is absolutly no player contact except in the rare instance of a homeplate collision - how are these players "slighted" enough to clear a bench?

All I am saying is that less people watch the NBA than ever before for whatever reason.

Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
I love watching the NBA it is amazing to see how many athletes their are compared to cellege basketball. the only thing that is not as good is the atmosphere around the game.

Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
I don't think less people watch the games. There are just more people watching other shows now b/c their are a gazillion of them. People still enjoy the NBA

The numbers lately are less than the numbers before.
Yes people still enjoy the NBA...just not as many as their used to be.
